    Brandywine Leveling Group

Wednesday, August 14th 8:30 PM Server Time
    Dark Delvings
    Level 60 full quest run

This instance is a toughy. Bring your best gear, lots of food, potions, tokens, scrolls - all the goodies. This was the final 6-man instance before the Watcher raid when Moria first released. All of the quests for DD are located in the Shadowed Refuge. I can summon people on my Captain if people need a quick way down there. I will have Elondin parked outside the entrance to the instance to summon people if they want to pick up the quest for helping a Guardian. We will be doing Berlingr's class quest in here.

    See you then!

Yes, that's the one in Rivendell, right? If it's the Vol II Prologue, then it will come before chapter 1.

Just don't do any Epic Quests around Echad Dunann in Eregion.

Sorry I didn't make it on last night for Misty Mountains questing. I was running constantly until 9pm last night, and then was too tired to log on, lol. I'll try again tonight

Frieja, I think this is so nice that you are doing this.

If you guys need any help just let me know. I will most likely be on Jeffaman or levelling Cephus in Dunland.

    Grouping Tip #1 Voice Chat

    Grouping Tip #1 Voice Chat

One of the best things you can do in a group is be able to hear what people are saying. Let's face it, typing is s l o w . . . especially when you're in the middle of a fight. So even if you don't have a headset or don't want to talk, it's a good idea to turn on voice chat if you have speakers so that you can at least hear what others are saying.

You can do this in your options by selecting Audio, then checking "Voice Enabled."

ETA: If you do want to get a headset, I recommend a USB powered one because then you can direct chat to go through the headphones and still have game sounds/music go through your speakers. Wal-mart has these for around $15.

    Ahhh--I'm behind!!!

I will have to play catch up on my cappy. Could you post what you've completed and where you stop? I would be interested in hopping along for the next grouping.

    Sorry, I missed tonight--been a long weekend.

Aw, we missed you Nnell! We did the Walls of Moria instance and got our legendary weapons, so that's not something you need to catch up on until you want to. Solsi had to sit this one out as well since he wasn't feeling well.

Next up for Wednesday night is Sarnur. Hope to see you then!

Wednesday, June 5th 8:30 pm EST
    Sarnur
    (Thorin's Hall reputation dungeon)
    level 48-50

    Notes:
    1. Please make sure you have a weapon with Ancient Dwarf as its damage type. There is a wing in Sarnur where you won't be able to damage the mobs at all unless you have Ancient Dwarf. Most of us picked up an Ancient Dwarf scroll when we did Walls of Moria. If you need an Ancient Dwarf weapon, please let me know by Tuesday, and I will craft one for you.
    2. There are no prerequisites for these quests. Go to Frerin's Court and talk with Unarr to accept the quest [46] Seeking Glory. This will direct you to the Dwarf rep area inside Thorin's Hall by the waterfall. You can pick up the rest of the quests there. We will make sure everyone has all the quests before we head out.
    3. Meet at the stable at Thorin's Hall.

Edited to Add: Make sure your bags are as empty as possible. You will be getting a ton of loot in here.

Sarnur is our next group session for this coming Wednesday, but I wanted to post a bit earlier than normal for next Sunday's session: Carn Dum, because it may take longer to prepare for it for those who want to obtain the quests.

You do not have to do any prerequisites for this if you don't want to. We can just jump in the instance finder and do the dungeon crawl. However, if you want to, there are quests in there, and it will take some time to work through the epic books and Gath Forthnir quests to open the Carn Dum quests up. So I wanted to give people time to do this if they want.

Volume I Book 6 - You can start this at Elrond (forward) or Aragorn (chapter 1) in Rivendell. Completing this book will grant your character the passive trait to be able to cross the "death line" in Malenhad swamp in Angmar.

Volume I Book 7 - Starts at Braigar in Gabilshathur, Angmar. You must complete Book 6 in order for Book 7 to bestow. Completing Book 7 will grant your character the key to the Gates of Carn Dum.

I'm not very familiar with East Angmar quests, as I've never been through this area fully, but based on Lotro-wiki, it looks like we will need to complete the following quest chains from Gath Forthnir in order for all of the Carn Dum and Urugarth quests to open up.

    Winged Host quest chain
    1. [49] The Winged Host Small Fellowship
      • [50] Cries of the Host Small Fellowship
      • [50] Queen of the Host Fellowship *Carn Dum quest
    Foul Waters quest chain
    1. [48] Foul Waters (starts in Myrkworth)
    2. [48] Discovering the Source
    3. [50] Further Upstream *Urugarth quest
    4. [50] Heart of the Waters *Carn Dum quest
I'm going to try to get the quests on Elondin. I'm not going to set up specific quest times for these because I think having 2 scheduled play sessions each week is quite enough, however I've got you all on my friends list, and will send out a /tell or general shout out if I see any of you on while I'm doing these this week. I'm usually on after 8:30pm throughout the week. I can't guarantee that I'll be on every night though, lol.

    Just a heads up...Book 1, Volume 7, Chapter 8...

Wow...that is one tough solo instance.

By far the toughest one I have encountered yet.

Did you make it through Geddi? It's been a long time since I've done the Angmar epics, so I don't recall which one it is. I just got to Gath Forthnir on Elondin, so that's what, chapter 2 or something?

I definitely look forward to pulling out my cappy out for Sanur tonight! I might be a little later logging on since my kiddo doesn't go to bed until 9pm. I've finished up my Walls of Moria stuff and still need to get my level 10 into my legendary but I picked up my ancient dwarf scroll and have already applied it to the weapon.

Are you also deeding? If so and if you want the company I would love to tag along sometimes to deed....it's so boring to do deeds alone.

Nnell, we're doing Sarnur tomorrow night (Wednesday). But I'm probably going to be questing by myself in Angmar tonight if you want to join me.

Good job getting through Walls of Moria! I still need to reach lvl 10 on my LI as well.

I have not been deeding. I usually wait until cap or near cap to start deeding. It's just easier since I don't have to worry about aggro for location deeds, and I can usually one-shot for slayer deeds. I agree with you though, it's definitely more fun to do them as a group. I would love the company when I start deeding, but I'm not there yet, lol.

No...going to have to try again. Yep...it starts in Gath Forthnir.

It is the one where you have to escort Lorniel as she is looking for her father. Problem is she is fairly weak, grabs a ton of agro and runs to the next set of mobs before she is healed up. I made it close to the end but I'm having a hard time keeping the mobs off of her.

    BTW...picked up a headset...no more typing.

    WOO HOO!!! *dances and cheers*

As for the epic quest, yes, I remember that crazed fanatic, Lorniel. I've always been lucky enough to have a group doing it so it's not so bad. I should be caught up to that part Friday night or Saturday afternoon if you want to run it together.

Actually...good news. I was able to complete it. The key for me was to go into Harmony stance with my mini and concentrate on healing Lorniel while doing some damage and keeping myself alive. I used Skill Target Forwarding to my advantage. that is something that will help out in the future healing in our group or other groups.

Once I got to the final mob, Mordirith (30000+ morale...yikes), and she wasn't around anymore, I went back to War Speech and disposed Mordirith quite handily. Good thing you only have to bring him down to about half to complete the chapter.

    See ya tonight!!!

    Had fun again last night!!!

I hope I'm doing OK as a healer...everyone stayed alive so I hope that means I'm kinda doing my job. Please let me know if I'm not or making mistakes and if you have any criticism, please let me know. That is the only way I'm going to learn.

BTW...the Winged Host quest chain, the first quest in the series is solo. I have picked up the rest and also picked up the first in the Foul Waters chain.

And one more thing...I can't thank you enough for this grouping opportunity.

Aw, I'm so glad you joined Geddi. You're doing a great job as a healer. If you have any questions on anything, don't hesitate to ask. I will continue pointing out little tips and tricks during our sessions. Healing just takes practice. I remember grouping with my brother on his minstrel back in the day while he was learning to heal. We would wipe, and then he would say, "Aw man! I should've used Triumphant Spirit!" And then the next time we wiped he would say, "Ah darn, I forgot to use Triumphant Spirit again!" The next time we were in danger of a wipe, he remembered to use Triumphant Spirit

It's like that with anything. The fight gets hairy and/or we wipe, and you look through your combat log or your skill cooldowns and try to think of what you could've done differently. We will all learn by doing. Maybe I will eventually learn to keep stun immunity on the tank and healer, or crowd control mobs away from the group, lol.

As for the fellowship quests (Winged Host quests and Foul Water quests), when is a good time for you to do them? We're booked with kin raids tonight and tomorrow night, but should be available the following times if you want to pick one:
    • Saturday around 1-3pm
    • Saturday after 8:30pm
    • Sunday around 1-3pm
I'll have one of Solsi's high level toons run us through the fellowship quests so we can have all the quests ready that we need for Carn Dum Sunday night.

    Sunday, June 9th 8:30PM Eastern (GMT -4)
    Carn Dum
    level 50

Ethelcat has graciously offered to lead us through Carn Dum as I have very little experience in here. We have one spot left to round out our fellowship. A tank would be prefered (Guardian, Warden, or Champion traited for Glory), but any class is welcome. Here is our fellowship line-up so far:

    Ethelcat - Burglar (group leader)
    Geddi - Minstrel (healer)
    Solsi - Minstrel (DPS)
    Nnell - Captain
    Elondin - Lore-master
    OPEN SPOT (prefer tank)

    Notes:
Please bring level appropriate power and morale pots (available from Scholars or as dropped loot). Also bring at least 20 EACH of level 55+ wound, fear, poison, and disease pots (available at a Healer NPC).

Here is some reading material if you want a taste of what we’ll be doing:
    http://allshallfade.guildlaunch.com/...0023&gid=17132
    http://kirahsguides.wordpress.com/lo...-and-urugarth/

The second guide states that Carn Dum is a VERY long instance and suggests splitting it up into 2 or 3 play sessions. We’ll see how it goes Sunday and then decide if we want to spread it across multiple Sundays.

You do not have to complete any quests in order to do this dungeon; however, there ARE quests if you’re interested. If you want to do the Carn Dum quests, then you must do the following prerequisites:
    • Volume I Books 6 and 7. They start with Aragorn in Rivendell (guest house). You can complete these solo.
    • The quest chains: The Winged Host and Foul Waters. Some of these are fellowship quests, and we will be doing these on TBD with a high-level character running us through. We’re just going to speed through these to get them done in time for CD, so no stopping to smell the roses. If you want to join us for that, please respond here or PM me in game on Elondin.

Probably Saturday night I will be online definitely--it's a bit iffy for me during the afternoon hours.

I'm on Volume 1, Book 8. chapter 1: The flickering Flame. Anyone close to that?
