    Forestry Mastery/Changing Professions

Hi, couple of new crafter questions:

    1) Is there any reason to get Mastery points in Forestry?

    2) Can you change from Explorer to Forester?

    3) If you can change, do you lose all of the experience you have in Forester? Wondering since Forester is in both professions.

    Thank you!

I take it you mean the Forester profession. It's up to you. You can now crit by just opening the Mastery portion, and you no longer have to complete it. But you can't open the Mastery portion of one tier without completing the Mastery portion of all the tiers below it. So if getting that 5% chance to crit is important to you, then yes you should finish it. If it's not important to you, then no need to go out of your way for it.

Explorer is a crafting vocation which includes the Forester crafting profession. You can change crafting vocations any time you want. You choose the vocation you want, and will have the three professions that the vocation includes.

Okay, you have been confusing the crafting vocation with the crafting profession. A crafting vocation contains three pre-determined crafting professions. You choose the vocation you want. If you want to have a specific profession then that will limit which vocations you can choose.

Explorer is a crafting vocation. Forester is a crafting profession, which is included in both the Explorer and Woodsman vocations. If you change from Explorer to Woodsman, you will keep whatever progress you have in Forester, but will lose all progress in the Prospector and Tailor professions.

    -----

The general rule for changing crafting vocations is this. You keep all progress in any crafting profession that is common to both of the crafting vocations. You lose all progress in any profession that is in the old vocation and not in the new vocation. This includes any crafting guild access/progress. If you later change back to a vocation that includes one of the previous professions, you will be starting it from the beginning (no progress).

So, for example, changing from Explorer to Woodsman you will lose Prospecting and Tailor. If you later change from Woodsman to Tinker, you will have Prospector at Tier 1 with 0/200 progress. If you change from Woodsman back to Explorer, both Prospector and Tailor will be at Tier 1 with 0/200 progress.
