Exclamation Sons of Numenor! Est. 2008

    Sons of Numenor, Est 2008,
    join today!!

Founded in 2008, on the Landroval server, in our six years of existence we have become known as a unusually stable, mature, active, yet casual group of MMO players across numerous games. Every Kinship has a story, we invite you to write your own page in ours!

SoN is not defined by any single play style, but more as a “community within a community” where members are encouraged to share their own path. We seek people committed to helping build and improve our community. Our active and professional leadership helps ensure a drama-free environment and to guide the communities efforts.

SoN has always proudly supported members who serve in the armed forces, and from this has come one of our longest standing traditions. Members are not ejected from our community due to lack of play time. When SoN was founded in 2008, several members were deployed on active duty within weeks of joining. Others have spouses who have deployed for many months at a time. Yet when they returned, their characters and Kinship were there to welcome them home. This tradition extends to all our members past and present. You are not separated from us for lack of playtime or distance.

SoN actively seeks to give back to our in-game communities through sponsoring public events and spectacles. Our Kinship actively seeks to participate and support our fellow guilds in their events. We welcome people who want to do the same!

We are a true global Guild. SoN extends across the face of the earth and we are committed to building our membership in all regions!

Beyond simple in-game activities, SoN breaks the “fourth wall” of the Internet with a growing portfolio of real-world and out of game activities. SoN founded a virtual and real-world chapter of the international Tolkien Society in 2012. Also in that year, we began “LOTROcon” an annual real-world gathering of players from many guilds, held at Cedar Point in Ohio. The Guild boasts several websites have been founded spanning gaming and some of the major games SoN plays. In 2013-2014, we look forward to starting regional gatherings and even University clubs.

    Why Join SoN?

    J
oining a guild is about finding the right fit and enjoying the game you play. We enjoy all play styles in MMORPGs, from light and heavy RP, casual raiding, questing, sponsoring activities and events, and much more. You join as a friend, and you leave as one. This means if you find a better fit, go in peace, you are always welcome back and none hold a grudge over doing what is right for you.

Membership in Sons of Numenor extends across all the games we play. You have no obligation to play any game besides what you join us for, but you are welcome in any and all games at anytime. That means you likely already have a home as your interest in games or play style changes!

    W
e give you all the tools you need and a great community to find and build what you want in your gaming experience. A top notch website with powerful tools, social media locations, mobile phone apps, TeamSpeak3, in-game user chat channels, are all there for your use.

Our membership stretches across all times zones globally, and we are aggressively pressing to build our base of players anywhere somebody logs into a game. We are always looking to add a few more people, if you are a good fit for Sons of Numenor, we welcome friends that are the same!

If you have visited us here and are looking for a home in the games we play, I hope you will build your home online with us!

    Regards,

    Nathan W.L. Boyle

I've submitted an application to join. While waiting for it to be reviewed and approved, I'd like to get to know folks. Do you have an in-game chat channel? It thought I'd come across one somewhere on your site, but I can't find it now.

The Analects and Collected Journals of Benjimir
    and a
    History of Deeds and Contributions
    of the
    Thursby Family
During the Late War of the Ring.

    As compiled by
    Tenifalas Thursby.
    F.A. 107
To begin, I wish to establish my voice in its place among the chorus within this volume. I was named Tenifalas by my mother, the eldest and to my knowledge sole male heir of the late Benjimir of Belfalas. This work contains my fathers assorted journals and notes, spanning from his period of service to the Prince, through the late War of the Ring. In addition, it compiles stories from those with whom my father served in fellowship and arms during those times. Where multiple accounts of given events exist, a narrative is presented to convey the details.

Early in my distant kins time among the Numenorean colonists in Middle-Earth, the sire name of Thursby was taken, to honor the first family with whom our blood mixed. The Thursby line, being a family of craft and trade since before the fall of Numenor, never held deed or title. Rather, its reputation was built on the renown of vessels built by our kin and the wealth earned in commerce with Middle-Earth. The time of the Lost Isle and forefathers of the Thursby family line are not subject of this volume. Yet, both bear direct influence in its rise in Middle-Earth and thus to the command which sent my father to Eriador and war.

“Eriador was in every way a provincial land. The people simple. Their ways predictable. And this you could surmise traveling at a gallop from the Brandywine to the Isen without dismounting. Yet behind every tree, in every pub, hints of shadow and danger leapt out to confront you.”
    --Benjimir of Belfalas
    Foul Humors

    S
taddle was an unassuming village tucked in a nook between Combe and Bree. Home to Bree-Hobbit and man alike, it was also on the edge of the far Chetwood. Some manner of supply could be had for hunting and fishing. It was here that Benjimir was seeking a bit of local wisdom in the catching of fish from a women known for her keep of tackle and bait.

“I do not have any of the bait you are asking for, though I also haven't heard of many of these fish you are asking about. You truly are not from Breeland then.” Joy Bloomer told Benjimir as he browsed the racks of drying fish and boxes of bait.

He smiled, not looking away from the goods and gear. “No, I have been traveling for some time. My family has interests in many places, this is one of them. And the fish I grew-up catching, I don't suppose are common to local waters.” She smiled warmly, pleased to have one with a keen interest in her trade.

The sound of raised voices quickly erased the good humor. A pair of men, clad in rough leather gear, mounted on unkept steeds were laughing as they rode away from a Hobbit merchant. The Hobbit was shaking a fist at the men, cackling as they clutched bags of goods. The riders continued through the village square and up the northern hill leading to the town of Combe. The other merchants avoided matching eyes with them, or drawing attention to themselves. Joy read the stern expression on Benjimir's face.

“They too are also new to Breeland. They have been coming in growing numbers for some time now.” she said.

“Where away?” Benjimir asked, gathering a few items and drew coins from his satchel.

“Up the Greenway. Since here on a year or so. They camp out in the Chetwood, amongst the ruins along the eastern road. Pretty much anyplace they choose. Its been only this past spring they've ventured into town. They paid at first, now they simply say to put it on their boss' account.” She nodded in thanks for the coin Benjimir offered.

“And does their boss pay?” he asked her, understanding the wry look the woman gave in response.

“I see.” He patted the side of his leg, and the grey horse, watering itself at the nearby walked to his side. Benjimir nodded towards the northern road out of the square. “Combe, up the road a bit?” Benjimir asked, mounting the horse.

Joy nodded, “Aye.” Benjimir spurred his mount, and rode north along the road towards the village of Combe.

I am very interested in joining. On Landroval, I have a 50 Human Hunter named Danwald, 20 Human Minstrel Danildur, and 8 Human Guardian Danarion. I've also applied on your website. I'm US military stationed in Japan, so my evening gametime hours are a bit skewed, but I've seen some SoNs running around at those hours. I've got years of MMO experience, enjoy being active in guild/kin voice chat and in-game chat. I've loved Tolkien's Middle Earth since watching the 1977 Hobbit cartoon as a kid with my dad (and now watching the movies with my kids).

I enjoy moderate RP and especially raids, but mostly working/playing in a group. Look me up if you ever want to quest/raid together.

How much fun do we have? Well, maybe that is best shown rather than described! Thus:

    Come all to the
    First Annual
    Doo-dah Parade!

The Doo-dah parade takes it's name from the traditional pre-Rose parade parady started decades ago in Pasadena, California. Folks, a bit heavy with the weight of many ales, marched the route of the world famous Rose Parade. Years later the event has become home to endless humorous stunts and groups.

Tuesday and hence forth on April Fools day, we shall take wing....and in many and varied form parade from the Shire through Bree and beyond!

    10 p.m. EST, Landroval
    Assemble at the Sandson Farm!

    FAQ:
    What is this about?

Since its foundation in 2008, Sons of Numenor has patrolled across Middle-earth in formation and uniform. Now we are sponsoring a monthly ride, open to all community members and Kinships to join.

    Where does it start?
We will assemble a location announced in th, help those joining us get into formation, and begin.

    Where does it go?
We will ride at walking speed, through the first half of the ride. The location will vary from month to month, but will generally be for all levels.

Then what is the Thunder Ride?
Sometimes you just can't drive 55. Other times you can't spend all night walking someplace. Either way, we will take all able to join or continue with us, at a full-speed rush directly to final destination for the second half of the ride.

    Then what?
We will gather about for an after party of light RP, music, and fellowship!

    Do I need to RSVP?
No, but we would appreciate any larger groups attending to check-in, so we can plan for your presence.

    Can I play music?
Certainly, we will organize the open stage for music in several corners our final location.

    BYOB?
Pish posh, we shall supply ale and pipe-weed for all!

How long will the fireworks show last......
The show is expected to last as long as 45 minutes.

There will be an open-mic "afterparty" in the Hall of Fire. All are welcome to take a number and play in-turn!

Can I fire my own fireworks?

We would appreciate it, for this event, if you NOT join us on the “rock.” Please mark your calendars for the annual "October Surprise" party in Thorins hall, which we welcome all to fire away with glee!
