    Alternative Input devices?

Is it possible to map the controls to an Xbox controller? My hands are getting cramps having to hold so many buttons on the marble mouse and I fall off cliffs trying to use a keyboard. I know that many games including MMOs can be mapped to an xbox controller but wondered if LOTRO would. I'm not asking if the game can be played on an Xbox.

If the controller provides DirectInput events to Windows, you may be able to edit your Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online\lotro.keymap file directly to specify those actions.

You may have to set this file's properties to read-only after you edit it to prevent the game from overwriting the changes you've made.

As an alternative, I know there are some freeware programs that will remap controller input to key presses. That might work, too.

I use a Logitech M570 trackball and it saves a lot of hand fatigue and carpal tunnel. I also use a Nostromo in my left hand as the controller doesn't seem to have enough buttons for the sheer quantity of skills Lotro has. The Nostromo allows mapping of almost all the skills depending on how you set it up.

Thank you. I am a mac but I have been using the Logitec Marble Mouse which at least let me reverse the buttons. I have found software that says I can map an Xbox controller, which I am used to using, on a Mac. Apparently it is pretty much native on Windows. I just didn't want to get everything set up and then find that LOTRO didn't want me to be able to do that. It would not let me re-map the buttons to reverse the right and left click.
