    LotroLauncher quit unexpectedly.

Alright so I downloaded this game (all 21G of it) and downloading it again is not an option it took way too long. Everything downloaded smoothly, bypassed all parental controls with the password and it installed on my computer after about a week of downloading. I finally get it copied to my Applications folder in OSX Mountain Lion and it gives me this stupid message immediately after opening it reading:

    Problem Report for LotroLauncher
    LotroLauncher quit unexpectedly.
This report will be sent to Apple automatically.

I copied the LOTRO client to the desktop and it actually opens the launcher but then freezes in the task "Overall" progress bar at around 42% and status "Check Product." I have to force close it.

I'd like to start playing this game again but am aggravated at all the technical issues I've had thus far. Haven't even been able to log into the game yet.

I think you are just being impatient.

The message is the result of you forcing the application to quit.

The patch process takes about 40+ minutes.
It is especially "slow" while it is applying forward iterations, and looks like nothing is happening.

Please read thoroughly before posting a reply next time. The message for making a Force Quit is "You have forced _______ to quit." NOT what I said popped up. The application just unexpectedly quits now without me doing anything. The Launcher opens, starts to download, freezes, then it says it unexpectedly quit and to report it to Apple. I am not forcing it to quit now. I cannot get past this as no matter how many times I try it just freezes and I get the message saying The Lord of the Rings Online™ quit. I have renamed it removing the ™ but it still shows up as that in the error message. Still cannot get past this bug.

Unexpectedly quit implies a corrupt binary. It is not a normally encountered error. I am not aware of any work-arounds other than to reinstall.

If you still have the .dmg file, be certain to allow the verify process to complete. If it won't complete, you have a damaged download and need to re-download it again.

Okay I did that, let it verify. It opened, and even started patching this time but about 1/4 of the way in (10 minutes worth of patching) it unexpectedly quit again. If I were allowed to post pictures I would but I have to pay money to be helped apparently so I am not doing that until I get this bug fixed. Same error message upon opening it up:

I'm really starting to give up on this game.

It doesn't open anymore it just crashes when I click the button from the applications folder:
    /Applications>Lord of the Rings Online™

I've also seen things about removing the ™ and such but I fail to see how that affects anything.

My lotroclient is a .icns and not a .app but when I change that it just converts it to a text file.
in the Resources folder of my Package Contents it still reads as The Lord of the Rings Online™ as well.

The quick answer: ... looks like you have Gatekeeper turned on. (Code Signature Invalid)
    See: http://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Mac_...er_Information

However, that might simply be the result of other problems with your installation. See below...

The tm "fix" really only applies to a certain problem with patching. And does not work for everyone, and has probably been fixed by Turbine.

The .icns file is simply an icon.

I assume you are talking about the file "lotrocleint.icns" inside the .app bundle.

If you installed the application from the .dmg file it will be a .app file.
However, if you have the Advanced finder Preference "Show all filename extensions" selected, when you mount the .dmg file, you might see the .icns file as a ring (which it is) but you should also see the .app file.

Make certain that you install the .app file -- that will take 5-10 minutes to copy from the .dmg file to your /Applications directory or wherever you place it.

In Finder, start at the top in /Applications and right-click on the "Lord of the Rings Online™" and select "Show Package Contents.'
That will open another panel showing "Contents."
    Clicking on that will show:
    Frameworks
    Info.plist
    MacOS
    PkgInfo
    Resources
    _CodeSignature
    patchcache.bin

    Selecting "Resources" will show:

    Lotro.gdf.dll
    TurbineLauncher.exe.config
    backup
    de
    de.lproj
    empty.lproj
    en
    en-GB
    en.lproj
    en_gb.lproj
    forward
    fr
    fr.lproj
    Lord of the Rings Online™.app
    lotroclient.icns
    qt.conf
    ru
    ru.lproj
    themes
    tmp

Selecting "Lord of the Rings Online™.app" and right clicking and again, selecting "Show Package Contents"
Another Contents, and another Resources, selecting Resources
Will show all of the .dat files.

The LOTRO client is a "nested" application. What appears on the top level is the "Launcher". The Launcher contacts the Turbine GLS Data Center and gets all of the patches and then validates your userid and password. In return for validation, it gets a "token" which it passes to the actual game client (the second Lord of the Rings Online™.app).
