Yup, and they are inside the instances. Or which "other" 85 mobs were you talkin about?

Lvl 85 group instances and a few sparse mobs around Walstow and once the new landmass hits in I guess spring or early summer that area as well then.

OK but those sparse mobs (and places like Dol Guldor) are not a realistic way for people to actively farm for the recipes. It's the three crafting instances people will farm. Isn't that true?

Probably. But is it your concern if people choose to waste their time instead of being "productive" ?

Your claim was that the crafting instances were the only way to get the recipes. Your claim also was that people are now compelled to farm them. Both incorrect.

Then it is useless to farm them before U10.

Even if they get upgraded (and who knows if the present bracelets wont be autoconverted), the current bracelets will still continue to be noticeably better than any teal loot and not much worse off than any new bracelets. So when you´re saying they are outdated, you´re simply missing the facts.

And while it is useless to farm them because of the drop rates, it NOT useless getting them when you have the chance, U10 or not.

to try and bring this thread back on track, I found a recipe, it was off of a orc in the scholar instance, the day of the last patch.

Was I farming it, no. I needed one of the scroll rewards. Have I tried manipulating the system to get humanoids.. No.

Its a rare item and it does drop. Its not meant for everyone to have. Which means sadly, some of the negative posters on these forums will never get one.

Please stop making these recipe gripe threads though, honestly, there are like 5 of them and its usually the same 5 or 6 posters saying the same thing over and over again.

Congrats to you for the drop. This will undoubtedly make enginekid happy.

Your mighty blow defeated the Gortag.
You have acquired a [Ancient Riddermark Scroll Case II].

You open the scroll case and find a [Vital Bracelet of the Horse-lords Recipe]!

Wait... they're actually called 'Ancient Scroll Case'?

I've been keeping a look on the side for 'Horselorde bracelet recipe' or something like that, selling all other trash. I might just have vendored some....

The ancient scroll cases are teal and look different from others. So you would probably notice before vendoring.

As for the topic - no, I did not see any scrolls/recipes after the change. I got exactly one recipe from some Hytbold instance in November (before bracelets). I run the crafting instances almost daily for the last two months (mostly hunting for crests and compendiums). I rebuilt Hytbold fully on 2 characters and nearly rebuilt on 2 others. Farming for something is not my idea of a fun gameplay so I did not do that. But I also did not see much recipes through the pretty intensive gameplay. Random is random. For me those golden items don't exist and I don't count on them in my builds.

There is at least one positive effect of the loot removal from Hytbold instances: I see more grouping for instances on my server. This change (more fun runs) I noticed and appreciated immediately.

As was pointed out elsewhere, you have admitted to farming the dailies before the loot removal. But for argument's sake, let's say you never farmed and you got, by your claim, 4 recipes. So you were happy to get 4 without farming. Now you, in your words, have to farm. Well if you truly didn't farm before, why do farm now?

Before, I never even wished to find one, in fact I didn't even know Ancient Scrolls existed, until after I noticed them in my inventory.
So why do you wish to find one now? You sold the others for mass cash, now you want more and you can longer easy-mode AFK farm them (despite your protestations to the contrary, since it would almost certainly take massive hours of AFK farming to get 4 of them) in the dailies. That's my bet.

You're fighting a battle you've already lost, in terms of these things becoming once again as relatively easy to get as they were. But don't let that stop you.

Found two or three of these before I knew what they were early after ROR was released.

Havent found any in a bit, never did any of the exploits for them, never farmed for them either (There is difference that is often overlooked in the discussions). Do run the crafting instances on occassion - mostly for the mats/crests.

Anyway, to anyone farming for these scrolls, imo it would be a much more effective use of time to improve ones ability by running T2C/T3 content with a variety of characters, different tactics, different people, and play styles than trying to get that last little bit of stats. Probably more fun too.

Couple nights ago I was pointing out to kin mates how pointless (statistically) it was to do all Hytbold crafting instances on every character every day.

The next day a kin mate got a horse lords bracelet off a humanoid in a Hytbold crafting instance (which critted).

Buying a lottery ticket is also pointless if you don't win.
But if you do... suddenly it was all worth it.
Likewise, if you are willing to spent 1000g to buy a critted Horselords well then as my kin mate put it...

This is the first time I've heard of this, and it strikes me as incredibly unusual and unlikely. Did you happen to take a screenshot of the chat log at the time?

Sadly, this image does not constitute proof of anything. Spanners would have had to have taken the picture at the time of opening the box. =/

I'll keep my eye out though, but this alone isn't something thats going to coax me into running the craft instances, when we've been the drop is from the actual boss and other NPCs, not any kind of sealed box. =)

He opened and posted the scroll just after (I did not take a screenshot, but you can trust me...), then put it on AH (it was a tome with Fate)
Or you can ask him to confirm that (http://my.lotro.com/home/messages?msg[a]=c&touser=Bragard)

Seems more likely that the boss dropped both the collection of text *and* the scroll case.

I've gotten 1 scroll case from a boss (do 15-20 instances a week).

I received a horse-lord recipe drop from a boss in Imping last week. Type 1 light armour shoulders.

Yes, they do drop off the bosses.

Never seen anything and I won't say how many times I've done them. It takes me just over 4 minutes to clear every single mob in each instance and I have 2 hunters, a champ and an rk I do it on. I wish the ctr-K feature worked here to show how many mob kills.

In fact I've never seen a horse lord recipe drop for anyone in any group I've been in. Lol. <--I guess I'm cursed.
