Is exploiting in PvP affecting PvE raiding?

It has come to my attention that some raid leaders are encouraging raid members to get PvP gear to raid in, nothing wrong with that if you get it legitimately, but it seems that some have resorted to farming commendations. Now for those that aren't familiar with PvP I will explain. Farming in PvP is having a 2nd account, either a sub or free account, rolling a "Freaver" and basically killing yourself over and over again to earn renown and commendations to barter for PvP armour. It's not against Turbines rules, but it certainly violates the spirit of competition, and is generally frowned upon in the PvP community.

As a former hard core raider on this server I am appalled that this behavior is going on. I know it wouldn't be tolerated by the raiding community when I was raiding, and it certainly wouldn't have been tolerated in my Kinship. I just want to know what are the thoughts of the raiding community now days, so discuss. Oh, and here's a link to the thread that spurred this effort.

I will stand by my speculation (speculation for now) and declare that a certain kin leader probably doesn't give a flying toot about what's happening out there and how people obtain the desired gear. Many have have yet to come forth with reasons and whether it was a personal choice or a forced decision.

I'm more inclined to conclude that it was a personal choice rather than an act of desperation. Spidey, PVE raiding is not what it used to be and nobody really gives a &&&&, tbh.

Who knows. We haven't seen any members or leaders of the kins known to "farm" comms come out and say why they are doing so. So "reasons" are speculative. I think it more likely that they just want to roll out to the moors at full Audacity.

To the best of my knowledge the kins/groups on this server that had any success with the harder T2C wings of Orthanc were not relying on PvP armour. Some might have had it with the "Burg Zerg" method on Acid, but success there had more to do with the number of burgs, I think. Other kins/groups did that wing differently.

We've yet to see if new content will "require it".

Apparently. I posted this on another LOTRO website and someone posted that a very good raid group on E is farming comms also and even running afk-macros and farming Norcrofts. It just shows how far this game has fallen.

And to those new players to this game, you may not know, but I was very, very active in raiding at one time. These bring back memories of when this game and server were thriving. Just look at those kin names <3

You* can farm all the gear you want in any fashion you want but it doesn't auto-grant the skills needed to successfully raid t2c content in any regard. That has been proven time and again by the First Age Symbols dropping in loot boxes. If you have no spacial awareness, no class awareness, don't read tool-tips, know how to be on your toes with corruption removals and understand the mechanics of turbine's intricate way of designing raids content, it means jack nothing whether you wear farmed gear or you go in naked.

Look, I'm not a Nimrodel native, but I have read pages upon pages of this discussion and I've seen it happen on my home server too. This has little to do with what one person finds to be fair or deserved or morally just. There is clearly a deep-rooted rivalry on a personal level and this moment allows a "gotcha" satisfaction of catching another player doing something that would otherwise be considered poor sportsmanship and then calling it to light. No one here is a martyr. We have all done something that someone would consider unsportsmanlike or unjust. This topic has now been beaten into the ground so much that no matter what response is give (positive, negative or neutral) there will never be a satisfactory resolution save for dropping it and moving on.

In the end, you are responsible for how the actions of another person affects you.

    * you is used collectively as a generalisation and not directed solely toward the op or anyone responding herein.
