    85 Sword

I understand there is a gold sword out there somewhere that might be had, but since I am not at the cutting edge of raiding, I'm wondering if there is something out there better than the Entwash Sword ( http://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Item..._Entwash_Sword ) I am using atm.

    I have a Burnoth's ( http://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Item...7s_Steel_Blade )

    and Vibrant Eomer ( http://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Item..._of_%C3%89omer )

sitting in my vault, but I can't talk myself into using either over the Entwash Sword.

    Any thoughts?

I could see different situations for all three.

Vibrant Entwash Sword would probably be the best for current group DPS purposes.
Burnoth's is a good switch to make for group content when you're not DPSing. (You'll want Will for power and healing still, but the crit isn't as important.)
Vibrant Sword of Eomer is the best for PvP purposes (especially after the Will = 2 tac mit change) and is probably also a better choice over Entwash for solo DPS purposes, as you're more likely to be within melee range for those.

There's a good sword that comes from Throne of the Great Goblin (one of the new Erebor 3-mans) that you could probably get pretty easily. I think it's a decent sword even as a purple, but you have a chance at the teal on T1 as well (not to mention you could get the gold LM sword on T1 Goblin as well).

there is a quest reward in the Sutcrofts that is a hair better than Burnoths (like 1 better in stats and cant remember how much tact mastry) and thats what i use.

There is the Ruined Blade (i think thats the name) from Goblin Town T2, as well as the Bright Blade from helegrod (ive only seen it drop from Drakes but maybe others) which was good before the erebor instances launched; But the premier LM sword is the gold one that "can" drop from the erebor cluster.

I'm using the lvl 80 vibrant sword; +68 will, + 68 fate, +190 morale, and + 360 (or so) tact mastery. Can't really find a reason to switch from this one.

    What he said.

I doubt the gold sword will drop for me so I will make that doubt a certainty by not worrying about it or grinding repetitively for same.

My lore-master hasn't reached lvl 85 yet, but I usually go by the rule to find a sword that does something other than Common Damage.

Yes, it's great to have awesome stats with a sword but aren't most enemies most resistant to Common than any other type of damage? Even the Gold sword is Light Damage, right?

Or am I way off base here?

I don't think you're wrong, it's just that the damage on the sword is so inconsequential that it hardly matters. Like, if you can exchange and get better dps and/or a better damage type for free then by all means do it. But I wouldn't give up any real stats for it. I would rather use a bad dps common damage type Sword with great stats over one that does Beleriand (or whatever) but whose stats are not as good.

Well, the Erebor instances were buggy. You could only get them in T1 and T2 chests, not the challenge chest. (It's fixed now.) That combined with the fact that everyone's been farming primarily Mirkwood instances, which only drop the boots, makes any Exemplar a rarer item.

Currently using the Teal Eomer sword. I have not seen anything drop that is better. Not saying there isn't; just highlights my luck.

Between that and the Entwash sword, I think I'd still go for the Eomer. The only advantage the Entwash has is the Tact Mastery (which admittedly is very nice). All the rest goes the other way. (Better damage type, more DPS, more will, more crit, and unless I am missing something 421 morale > 68 Vit)

I think the deciding factor was my ICPR took a hefty hit with the Rohan gear, so grabbed the sword to bolster it a bit rather than boost my Tact Mastery.

Now if the Entwash had fate instead of Vit, might be a very interesting choice.

Well, 68 vit is only 204 morale, but it also gives you 272 tac mit and I believe 136 phys mit, so it depends if high morale or a mix of morale and mits is what you're aiming for. Personally I've been going with vit over raw morale, but that may change after today's tac mit addition to Will.

True. Considering I logged on with around 33% tactical mit today I suppose like many other changes recently it just pushes us further towards --STACK WILL--. Particularly as my will is nothing special, around 2300.

Out of interest, I tried retraiting and with Fidelity/Tolerance I'm up to 36%. I'm guessing anyone with top-line gear could cap it.

The sad thing is that I've thought we get more bang for the buck from secondary traits for a while, other than Will, it just looks even more true

Yes, raid-ready casters now find their tactical mitigation easily capped without really trying. In fact, another LM in raid yesterday asked why I had my raven out. Good question--if "squishies" don't need it for tactical mit, and if medium/heavy armour classes can get along without it, looks like the Spirit of Bloodtusk will be my permanent raid pet (which is fine, I have been favoring him anyway).

So, all it takes is 3 days to kick my entire argument in the wossnames.

The plan has been to use the Eomer sword to boost a lackluster ICPR, rather than add a drop in the ocean of Tactical mastery -- 1%ish when it is already over 31,000.

Now, when ICPR suddenly more than doubles overnight -- from around 1100 to nearly 2600 its kind of back to the drawing board.

I suppose its due to the items being made before a major shake-up in the stats, but nothing really stands out right now.

The gold sword looks really nice, but it is sad -- and a sign of how skewed things are right now -- that ICPR is one of its headline stats (I suppose aimed at raiders). Ironically if I want ICPR, I get more from my old Sword of Knowledge.

I got a nice sword in a great barrows run yesterday; I tried to load a screenshot but I must be doing something wrong because I couldn't get it to show up in post. Nonetheless, the item is called Sword of the Cardolan prince: it has 150 will, 15 fate, and 700 something tact mastery.

No time to research as I am at work, but the rank 8 sword from the ettenmoors The Inquisitor's Edge, but that sword is really nice as an offhand.

Lots of folks on my server are farming their way to r8 for those offhand weapons. I don't approve, but I also don't really care since I will see very few of them in my raids

I had to untrait Fidelity and Tolerance. I'm still about 700-800 over cap without the raven out, without scrolls, without a tac mit scroll on my book, etc. (I do have a tac mit passive on my staff.)

An interesting note: I was able to trait several physical mitigation virtues instead because of this, and managed to almost cap that as well.

I've gotten four of the purple version of this, which is actually also pretty nice for a pure tac mastery build. It's got 148 Will, still has 15 fate I believe, the only difference is the raw tac mastery is cut in half. It drops from Sambrog, for anyone interested in getting it.
