THIS is real PVP, not the petty little squabbles in LOTRO

Read about a real epic PVP battle in a game where PVP actually matters and material losses are permanent.

Kind of puts the petty in-fighting, and 'clubbing' QQ, in the Ettens in perspective, methinks.

Note too, that arounf 3000 players were taking part and the servers stood up, unlike most other MMOs where a couple of hundred people usually bring the servers crashing down or at the very least, as in LOTRO, the lag makes the game unplayable.

    Well, that's not entirely accurate:

"Lag set in with around 700 players in the system...At the peak of the battle, the system was running at just 10% normal speed and people were experiencing several-minute delays on module activations."

Losing something that took you years to build,and/or lots of real Money with one Mistake, tough luck ^.^ (wish i was there tbh)... While that might suit a part of online gamers, alot of others play a game to have fun without having to fear of losing everything each second of the day.

It really IS fun,and such things are epic in their own way,BUT without support or lots of Money invested again, alot of these pilots wont recover that fast and get back to their status, not sure if you would like to spend a year building/farming stuff/paying XXX bucks and then having to repeat it again after a lost fight.

Also, thread prolly deleted soon, since speaking about other games here is a no go..

wow... talk about cutting out the important bit in a quote...

This is the full quote from the site linket

Lag set in with around 700 players in the system, but EVE's Time Dilation feature kept the server running amicably up into the thousands of players. At the peak of the battle, the system was running at just 10% normal speed and people were experiencing several-minute delays on module activations.
The system slows down everything, making sure noone lags more than the other. Yes, it was at 10%, but it was at 10% for everybody

Like it was said before, losing everything that took you years to build in an instance isn't something i look forward to.
For me it's like coming home and seeing a hacker took my account and deleted all of my toons.
Of course this is personal preference, and some players may prefer full on realism, aka you die and game over.

Anyhow i expect this thread to "disappear" in a little while

I happen to enjoy many of these 'petty little squabbles'.

Also, some of us see the posts that appear on r/Gaming without requiring you to post them here half a week after they originally appeared.
