    Massive Lag in Ettenmoors

Don't need to write wall of text here, there's a lag problem in this server. If there are 2 raids fighting each other, Mr. Lag shows up. (at least in Ettenmoors)

People are complaining about this, sending tickets etc. (i even got respond to my ticket in record time) , but nothing has changed yet. I really wonder if you care about this situation.

To be honest, Ettenmoors is unplayable sometimes because of the lag. I don't want to wait for 5 seconds to use a skill anymore, really. There's a lag problem in this server that's obvious but the bigger problem is that either Turbine isn't working on it or whatever they do it's not working. At least an announcement about this would be fine.

Indeed, I've hardly been there since this laaaag issue has reared its ulgy head. No idea what the cause is, clearly a server issue tho, skills unable to be used and just totally unplayable when two raids meet.. and yet nothing seems to be spoken about it by the Devs.

Just what is the issue Turbine and what are you doing about it?

A simple question that we all want to know the answer to .. but I doubt any will come... /sigh

Even if the hardware you are using is the latest then Turbine will blame your connection. That means you will have to check your ISP about reducing your connection during game time as the data load is high during this time. Nota bene, i was in florida during the weekend with a &&&&&& hotel connection of 0,5 Mbps and a loss of 3-20%. Despite the lag spikes i had with big loss the lag, in general, wasn t bad at all ! the latency was 20-40ms!!! now back at home here in Switzerland my connection was 40 Mbps yet latency at 140ms. i am sure that turbine knows how &&&&&& the connectivity is from Europe but since the US players are satisfied i guess they don t care.

Latency is not issue, we all long time know that with servers moving to US latency increased, its the 5-6seconds freezes that are bad. Not happeing only in EM, but in raids in general, even in 3mans. With mates we can actualy talk on TS when the lagg comes, to all ppl in the same time, all in diferent locations, with diferent connections, we can shout "owww laaaag" 12 ppl at the same time, game graphic like snowing and stuff are going on, but skills/mobs aint doing anything. This is the worst in my opinion.

Yesterday I jumped in the enemy raid for 2 mins before I got hit by 1 autoattack, the skill lagg is the worst in keeps, it took us 10 mins to take ta with the skill lagg yesterday. It was unplayable.....

Turbine seem to have no intentions of fixing anything, so whats another solution?

We could stop 24 man raids on both sides?

We could make an effort to max groups at 12?

Things will get worse until U10 arrives, after u10 many will PvE more so things will die down.

Any other suggestions? We can atleast try?

This is really getting ridicolous and my patience is about to run out, Yesterday in TA with at least 2 creepraids (+soloers/fs) 1 freepraid (+soloers/fs) was awful. could hardly move and couldn't get any skills off..
I got out of combat and started to map, took 2-3 mins before the skill started. I go etten between expansions/updates cause there isn't much else to do, but with the massive lag it makes it no fun to play there. I love this game but when I can't play as intended I wonder if it is worth paying anymore and I am sure that others feel the same.
The servers need to be fixed.. the fault isn't w the players conncetions/pc's since 24+ ppl at the same time scream "lagg". To prevent more stress on the current servers until fixed properly transfers to high populated servers (like Snowy) should stop

Yes! This would be great... But im afraid its too much to ask

Before the massive lag started ocouring our kin group of 8 players had a great lag free fight against a freep group of 12ish.

Agree with everything said here. I have given up going to Ettens except for some small quest hand ins. Fed up waiting for an induction which takes 10 seconds by which time my enemy is too far away. This lag - in general - seems to be leaking all over. Hytbold has been bad for me lately too. It's a shame because we know for many people Ettens is their whole game. At least I have some freeps who need leveling to fall back on. I wonder what it will actually take to fix this.... :/

Glurf in principal this is a great idea however you have to consider the following; If you have 12 creeps in 2 raids or 1 24 man raid it makes no difference there will still be 24 players there. Plus leeching defilers.

Perhaps we could try it at least. Lag is out of control.

Haven't checked/compared my link while in the moors but I am having some nasty lag (skills stop, rubber band back to where you were 50m back, see people running in one spot) spikes several times an hour. As if my squishy little hobbit burg doesn't have enough problems there.

We all need to start thinking on the same lines as Turbine and that's whats good for business.

PvPers currently are the minority, everywhere else has layers to prevent lag due to overcrowding. They are not going to spend money in areas of the games that do not benefit the majority.

We can see it in other areas of PvP too, making it less daunting for new players to join in on PvP...

    - Renown boosts, making ranking easier (closes the gap between long-term and new players)
    - Increased KB's (closes the gap between long-term players and new players)
    - Commendation Cap rather than destiny (Prevents long-term players from getting all of the gear instantly)

If they see higher numbers of players taking part in PvP then it will become a focus for them to improve, but currently it's a minority and will always be an afterthought with minimal resources dedicated to it.

I too hate the lag, but I feel it's useless to complain about.

The only solution we have is what players are suggesting about not customising your characters appearance and running high settings etc. as to not stress the server at high peak times.

The thread concerning the lag was moved here :

    http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.p...71#post6642071

I do experience some packet loss and also rubberbanding at new area and in game in general. The only time I had 20-30 ms was 2 weeks ago when i was in Boston. During those days, I was also in Ettens no lag was experienced at all. I recently upgraded on an Alienware and having at home in Switzerland a stable connection definitely shows that the reason of the lag lies solely on the server situated in the US. Also the amount of dots on a certain npc/freep/creep gives some lag that moment and what I have also observed the mechanism of lotro is apparently making a calculation 1-2 seconds before kb so as to calculate who is KBing. After the target is dead then the lag is gone. And i will agree with Hydo on this one : there is nothing to be done. They need to make huge changes so that these things disappear and I don t see any will from Turbine to do anything about it so far.

If I recall correctly Monstreous, you made a post suggesting whole raids to minimise appearances and other things. E.g. creeps no skin, freeps removing shoulders, helmets, gloves and boots to remove the amount of data being processed at any one time?

Searched your posts and cannot find it. Was it removed or was it someone elses post?

no it was only this post I had ; urging everyone to post videos about lag. I observed again today: the dots on one singular mob either npc or creep/freep create huge instant lag until the mob is defeated.

This guy made a good post about what we can do reduce lag - mostly freep side - some of it will apply to creeps.
