Ya mean they're not in the answer, right? 'cause they are in the riddle.
    Good riddle. Good riddle solving.

Indeed. Now we are just waiting patiently for the next mindmolester...

This was really hard to come up with I apologize for the lonely c, but I defend it by claiming that it almost makes sense there... It could be a class named philology C or something.

    Prefer fond philology C

Seems quiet.. Time for a hint me guesses: It's three words, out of which one is a preposition.

    A-ha. Prophecy of Glorfindel.

I thought I could see 'glorfindel' in there but couldn't work out the rest, to be honest I'm not sure what this refers to, guessing it's something in the Silmarillion in his first 'incarnation'?

Prophecy of Glorfindel it is. It refers to his words to Eänur in the Battle of Fornost, when he counselled Eärnur not to pursue the Witch King: "Far off yet is his doom, and not by the hand of man will he fall."

    Your turn.

OK a clue, it's three words.

    Nope.

OK it's almost the weekend and that means beer is merely minutes away which makes me happy, so whilst I'm in a happy mood here's another clue since we've had no guesses yet:

It's three words and it's a location (sort of).

Hey, just wanted to let you know that I am still pondering on this riddle... so don't give the answer yet

Meh, there's so many different possibles, but then I can't do anything with the other letters!

River something? Rivendell? Went through other things like Vinyalonde, but then couldn't see what would go with it.

Not anything to do with Rivendell. And "river" is not in there either.

Those must be some 3 long words. Can you give us another clue?

    Summary of clues so far:
    - it's three words
    - yes they are long words (EDIT: well 2 long and 1 short word)
    - the answer is a location (sort of)
    - nothing to do with 'river' or 'rivendell'

Another clue: the answer is actually three separate but similar 'things' mentioned in The Fellowship of the Ring.

I'm gonna get on with it first thing tomorrow morning. Of course, some-one may have figured it out by tonight...

I'll give one more clue and if no-one gets it in the next couple of days I'll spill the beans over the weekend (perhaps this one was just too tricky?)

Final clue: the three words are very big things.

    Silvertine, Redhorn, Cloudyhead.

The 1st thought I had when reading your clues were the 3 peaks above Moria! But I checked and found their elvish names, which obviously didn’t work. Then I spent a lot of time trying to figure something else out, before stumbling across Silvertine as the Mannish name for Celebdil. Then the light finally came on for me!

    OK, next one:
    Tool holding elf fan

My guess is Gimli. His axe can be seen as a tool, and we know he is a great friend to Legolas, and admirer of Galadriel.

Umm, no. It's an anagram, not a riddle! Read the OP, then try a guess.

My apologies, I go on all the Tolkien trivia/games everyday, I think I just got confused this once.

Well done! I was beginning to think I'd made it way too hard.

Seems quiet, time for a hint?

The anagram: Tool holding elf fan

1st hint: there are 4 words in the answer, and surprisingly, they are of nearly identical length to the words in the anagram.
