Thread: Running SnB

    Running SnB

So recently I've been running around Middle-Earth with SnB and I find it pretty awesome. It vastly improves our survivability. Place it with an legacy enhanced Defensive strike, and survivability soars! By placing revealing mark on a mob and using our other self-heals skills, including Traited Muster Courage, I've been able to finish fights with minimal loss of morale or even zero loss. Of course, DPS goes down, and since DPS goes down, it takes longer to kill mobs, which worsens the power problem.
    Any thoughts?

When I make S&B weapons (I go with swords) I always use both power legacies on them to help out with that problem. Traiting Now For Wrath is also vital for power maintenance.

Usually when soloing I use my halberd, but for raiding I go S&B.

I made a nice, less dps oriented 1h and running SnB in everything that is not a huge dps race.

Only thing you lose is some dps.
You gain a little bit of stats and, more importantly, block.
You seem to get a little bit shorter attack duration.

I've heard a lot of people say lesser attack duration is not good because of greater power consumption.
That is absurd to complain about. Yes, you consume more power in a duration of time but you also do more things in the same duration of time. If that bothers you, go easier on clicking.

Running with the shield that drops in Took and that campaign and secretly hoping to get lucky in BG.

It's a very viable way to run, especially for all the reasons listed above.

Well, I've never run SnB on my cappy, then on my second run of Goblin Seat T2C:

So now I do run SnB, and it's awesome

I still solo with my 2h sword of course.
But with new ways of getting more marks (BG and 3mans) i might try to make a dpsish 1h and try out redline soloing of instances and creeps with it. I can not predict exactly how good or bad would it be.

    Nice loot vr00mie!
Are you sure you got it from goblins tho? Maybe you ran some mirkwood before goblins and it remained in the bag?
I thought Malledhrim things can only drop from Mirkwood instances and Examplary ones from new 3mans.

I also thought they only dropped in mirk instances, but I got it in the Goblin instance

My understanding was that Erabor drops the shield and Mirkwood drops the earing (or whatever the +To Arms item is).

S+B is fantastic for tanking, kiting, healing and recently i've enjoyed it in PvP. 2h for DPS of course. I've yet to actually experiment with S+B Solo for big mobs. I always just assume that 2H = more dps and therefore more healing.

Well, soloing outposts in etten is a lot easier with SnB i can tell you. It does take quite a bit longer...

Seat of the Great Goblin is apparently bugged and pulling from the Mirkwood loot table. (RockX said so in the Update 9 Loot thread.)

    Survivability? For what?

I really have to think back years ago when I last died in a raid with my 2h... and solo: Well, you can die solo in this game?

you havent died, in a raid, in YEARS?

who are you, with this amazing skill? and who do you run with?

not claiming thsi game is/isnt hard... but to NEVER die?

    i call shenanigans.

all that being said, i do agree with the essense of your message: capns really dont need to worry about survivability. were like the last people to pull aggro, and even when we do, we are naturally tough enough to last until peeled-off.

I've died a bunch of times so far, and I've found it to be but a minor inconvenience anyhow. Maybe things will be different in endgame.
