Hobbits' encounter with Gildor in the woods of the Green Hill Country?

Sam walked along at Frodo’s side, as if in a dream, with an expression on his face half of fear and half of astonished joy.

    ohhh close but no cigar.

Only one dream was involved. The word dream in the riddle is something that supposedly causes a dream.

RotK, Book 6, Chapter 1. The Tower of Cirith Ungol. "Already the Ring tempted [Sam], gnawing at his will and reason. Wild fantasies arose in his mind; and he saw Samwise the Strong, Hero of the Age, striding with flaming sword across the darkened land, and armies flocking to his call as he marched to the overthrow of Barad-dur. And the all the clouds rolled away, and the white sun shone, and at his command the vale of Gorgoroth became a garden of flowers and trees and brought forth fruit."

Is it somewhere in the Shire?

All I can think of is when the hobbits were with Gildor in Woodyend, but I KNOW that can't be it.

If that happens, you are required to juggle them (and send photos).

    My last guess:

Sam talking about the elves he thought he saw, but doesn't know for sure.

Elves were believed to sit upon the chest of a sleeper and give him bad dreams (the German word for nightmare is Alpdrucken, or "elf-pressure") therefore elf = (bad)dream.

Yeah well, our first encounter with Gollum was way creepier. Little elveses trying to sit on me I can swat anytime.
