Question regarding Song of Soothing in PvP; Neglected Minstrel Skills

I have a few questions I thought I'd run by you all:

What does Song of Soothing do in Monster Play? Is it anything like Invocation of Elbereth? I've done a bit of research, but can't seem to find an answer...

    and:

There are some skills, namely Song of the Dead and Song of Distraction, that I found myself never using, and so I've removed them from my skill bar. I usually pull out SoD for sneaking by Taskmasters et al in 'Moors keeps, but never use it otherwise. What are some scenarios that require using these skills?

    Thanks!

If you use the moors set, slot any of the moors relics, or both SoS gives creeps a - incoming healing debuff when used on them. Song of distraction you pretty much have down its uses. Song of the dead is worthless.

Song of distraction is worth keeping on your bar, i can't count how many times a creep has tried to turn tail and run from me across a bridge and thats helped me get the kill.

Song of Distraction is also useful in instances to skip some mobs, or to pull less enemies at a time. Not every minstrel seems to be aware of this.

I like the idea of a song so powerful that the Dead will be powerless (Tom Bombadil ftw!), but currently it's not very useful. You can use it on an Echoe of Death in a 1/2/3-man skirmish, if you even want to bother yourself with locking it down. Back when I was a very young minstrel I think I used it in Fornost, and much later on the skill found it's use in the instances of Dol Guldur. Nowadays I never use it I believe.

Song of Distraction is great to single-out enemies when making you way through dense Orc camps. Warspeech DPS makes it pretty pointless most of the times now, but it can still be useful in instances for example, it's a unique CC skill and quite often mobs aren't immune to it!

Song of the Dead used to be one of the few skills that could mez 'The Dead'. Used it in the Barrows, Garth Agarwen and Dol Guldur quite often, but it's one of those skills you've got to remember that you have. Besides that, nowadays mezzes aren't type-specific anymore so in groups your friendly Burglar or Lore-master can just take care of it.

I think they're both a bit relics of the past when Minstrels had trouble fighting more than 2 enemies at a time and needed some cc skills to deal with it.

I use Song of Distraction when crossing the road in Fanghorn's Edge. It gives you a little extra margin trying to sneak by those patrols! Song of the Dead I will use on dead LTs in T2 and T3 skirmishes, though usually I just nuke everything. It can also be useful in some instances like Annuminas cluster and the Halls of Night.
