Second Breakfast is as old as the server itself, but we're still going strong.
Today we're looking for a few more great members to add to our family.

We are a social kin with a love for all aspects of the game. The environment is friendly and welcoming, mature but filled with slightly off-the-wall humour. And we strive to keep our calendar full of activities for casual players at times fit for our American and European kin members. We help each other and provide the server with fun and unique activities.

The early days of Second Breakfast
Second Breakfast was only supposed to last for a couple of weeks. The kin was founded by members of other servers to help this new server during the F2P transition. But the community we built in that short time was not one that could be abandoned. Though we grew to be a mid-sized kinship we still keep that original close-knit atmosphere.

We started the server tradition of Elevenses, one that continues to this day on Sundays at 11am EST (server time) and Mondays at 11pm in the Bird & Baby Inn. We later introduced the popular Bread & Jam Sessions, Friday nights at 9pm until late into the night in the Prancing Pony.

Second Breakfast today
Second Breakfast has a strong core group of veteran and new players from around the globe, an alliance with several other great Crickhollow kinships, and a dedicated group of officers. Our website is no mere placeholder--the forums are active every single day, we have an extensive knowledge base, and many of our events are planned on the site. In fact, our site is the second most active LOTRO site on all of Guild Launch.

Today we embrace the many aspects of this game, and try to further the instance goals of our kin members while maintaining a balance with our more casual events. Though we are not a role-playing kin, we do offer a number of RP friendly events and encourage RP whenever possible. Our two kin bands have played at numerous events, including Weatherstock and Shirefest. But not all of our events are tilted towards the end game and social players: some of our events have included lowbie instance runs, deed runs, themed event weeks, and rerunning old cluster content for deeds and fun.

We continue to hold special social events for the server throughout the year, such as the Shirefest concert, rallies, costume contests, horse races, holiday celebrations and all sorts of server parties.

Member expectations and the application process
Kin members should be mature, helpful, and respectful. All members have the latitude to play the game however and whenever they like, and must respect the playstyle of others. We promote a hobbit outlook of sharing food, drink and music, and wish for this kind and giving attitude to be reflected whether our members are wielding a walking stick or a sword.

All new recruits must apply through our website. We do not require this because we are being elitist. It is only meant to ensure that new recruits are a good fit for us, and we are a good fit for them. This application process has helped us maintain a positive and friendly environment inside the kinship and has weeded out potential trouble-makers before they could ever be tagged into the kin. Our officers review the applications and respond within a day or two.

I did want to clarify one thing from the recruiting post--the /who command does have the odd quirk of sometimes adding in a level range or location. Be sure to clear those extra fields out and just keep the breakfast in the who field to find us, or simply fill out an application on our website and we'll find you. We had one interested party coming up empty while standing right next to a non-anonymous kin member, so I don't want anyone else to get confused.

We also invite everyone to join us this weekend for the Crosser of Roads run and the Shire Rally.

Though they are what we are known for, these casual social events are only one side of Second Breakfast--we have regular instances runs, bi-weekly raids, various low and mid-level runs, deed events, TP farm expeditions, and much more. I hope you'll drop by and find out a bit more about our kinship.

Wow, you really did some digging to find this thread! I definitely need to update that initial post with some officer changes we've made over the past year and a half.

Quite a few old SB members have returned recently, and I know some were removed from the kin due to inactivity.

Just in case any of you come here first, I wanted to make sure you know that you are always welcome to come back home. Just type "breakfast 1 95" (minus the quotation marks) and ask any online member to put you in touch with an officer.

Second Breakfast is always happy to welcome new members to our kin family, whether you've been playing since day one or started just yesterday. We do all of our invites based upon applications at our website, but if you'd like to know more I hope you'll contact one of us in game by typing "/who breakfast 1 100" and asking anyone who comes up on the list if you may speak with an officer.

We're primarily a social kin, and we organise tons of activities planned within the kinship and for the entire server, such as the upcoming Winter Carnival and our four weekly events (listed in my signature). We try our hardest to keep a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for all, and we help each other out by maintaining crafting, cosmetic, decoration, reputation and other special goods warehouses. We're not the biggest kinship around, but with over 100 players active over the last couple of months we have enough members to keep chat lively but not so many that we don't have the chance to get to know one another.

Elevenses, a Crickhollow tradition since its inception, held inside Michel Delving's Bird & Baby Inn for Early Elevenses on Sundays at 11AM (EST/server time) and Evening Elevenses on Mondays at 11PM. All well-mannered folk are welcome, including Elves, Dwarves, and Men, but expect a Hobbity warm and welcoming atmosphere at the Inn. It's a great opportunity to spend relaxing time with your friends or making new ones, to role-play (or learn how), to share some music (or some pies!) and to socialize with your Crickhollow neighbors in a casual setting.


Bread and Jam Sessions take place in the Prancing Pony every Friday night from 9-11PM server time. Share your new or favorite tunes, have an ale or two, kick up your heels in a dance, and enjoy some informal playing time with Breakfast Club. A Bard is readily available to sell inexpensive instruments, and you don't need to be a minstrel--everyone enters Middle Earth with the ability to play music and dance!

And join the Breakfast Club, a multi-kin band, for our concerts at the Bree-town South Gate *almost* every Saturday at 1PM. The band travels to the same location in Landroval for our concert every first Saturday of the month.

Second Breakfast...

A kinship full of friendly, helpful, courteous, entertaining, intelligent, creative, fun, and funny players, willing to band together to make the LOTRO experience more than just a game.

It's not just a guild, it's an extended family; complete with caring parents, wild siblings, and that fun-but-weird uncle with his awesome leather biker jacket and wide-brimmed fedora.

I played for a year solo. Then I played in a small kinship, and it was nearly the same as playing solo, no one was ever on when I was.

Then I saw some folks from Second Breakfast playing music by the South Gate in Bree, and they were all having so much fun, chatting and dancing and cheering.
Since I have joined SB; I have learned how to play music as a soloist, joined a band and played with them, started my own band of alts, and have this year played at both Shirefest and Weatherstock; I've taken on Thrang, Warg Pens, and other evils with lots of friends; joined a PvmP tribe as a warg; went from lvl 40 to 112; had lots of help doing Big Battles; became a Voluntary Assistant (officer); and created and ran several server-wide events open to all players.

I log in and get many "Hullo!"s from kinnies every single time!

I'm so happy that I don't have to play solo in this game ever again, unless I want to. My kinnies have become my friends and my family! And since being accepted, I've come to see this game in new ways that I would have never even thought about if I had remained solo, I probably would have quit playing a few years back.

So this post has two intents. First, to bump this thread so that others can see it. And secondly, to thank all my kinnies for making Second Breakfast one of the best kinships in the entire game!

Bump! and I think last year this was lost, but for 2019 we will do Crickhollow's 9th anniversary event! it is a ways away but it will be planned as we get closer to September!

Second Breakfast is not for everyone.
We have raiders, but we're not a raiding kinship. We have a ton of capped members, but we don't always do end game content. We have a group of creeps, but you won't see us on the moors often. If you like these things, yeah, we sorta maybe sometimes randomly do those things. But if you LOVE those things, then Second Breakfast may not be your best choice in kinships.


What we do have is Leadership willing to go the extra mile, not only for Second Breakfast, but for all Crickhollow.
We have a wonderful group of Officers with designated duties, willing to help our members out in any way they can.
And we have an outstanding gathering of friends who enjoy being with each other, chatting or lurking, and helping out in their own ways.
Many have known each other for nearly a decade now. We have been acquaintances, became friends, and are like family now.
Most of us are older but young inside, while we have a few mature younglings running about as well, and quite a few couples playing together.


Second Breakfast is hobbity. We enjoy talking about food, about adventures, about music, festivals, fishing, fun, and we love parties! We're happy, friendly, always hungry, and may wave at you when we pass by. You'll find many of us playing in bands throughout middle-earth on various days, stop and listen for a bit before running off and killing orcs!


And if this seems like the type of kinship that you were looking for, fill out an application! We don't actively recruit, you'll not see advertisements in World Chat for SB, but we're always accepting applications for new players who want a hobbity experience, or veteran players willing to change things up in the way they play the game.
