(Quote by Con)Its funny, Its almost like you think i care about your opinion.

If you say that you don't care about what people say, why do you keep responding to this thread? Is it just because you need to get your opinion out to people? Or did you just not get enough attention when you were younger, and now you want that attention in a game you say is just a game? So really, why keep posting? Maybe its just to /troll or you are bored, who knows. But atleast the people who spar or camp rez get their intake of reknown/infamy by fighting a person that is trying to stay alive, not another account who just sits there.

Hey its a game, but everyone you interact with are in fact real people. I guess you can say you have to have a certain amount of... something i can't think of a word for, but it involves having i guess humanity? heart? feeling? To treat people who are possibly a thousand miles away with same type of respect and worth you'd treat your best friend.

short version: It speaks volumes of an individual's character to care the same amount about someone whose thousands of miles away as someone with whom you interact with on a daily basis in real life.

This is something for everyone to digest its meant for one side as much as the other.

I think the word you're looking for is gullibility.

Now before you mark me off as a cold hearted or mean spirited person, please allow me to explain.

Friendship, as well as respect, must be earned to be worth anything at all. The friendship and respect I have for a friend of decades is beyond anything I will ever have for anyone I meet online, whether in a game, blog, chat room, etc. The experiences I've had with friends in real life exceeds any virtual experience I will ever have with friends whom I only know online. The trust I have in my real life friends goes beyond any trust I will ever have for any friends I meet online. Not meaning to burst anyone's bubbles here, just stating facts as I see them.

To suggest an equality between the respect you give real life friends and the respect you give online friends seems naive, in my humble opinion. If I get an email saying that my real life friend is stuck in London and needs $5000 to fly home, I'm going to be sure I talk to them in person before I send the money order, not just to verify that it is in fact my friend, but to ask how they're doing, to talk, to ask how their trip was(other than losing their luggage).

In this age of internet predators, phishers, and thieves trying to steal your money in any way they can, there's good reason to not get too close to the people you meet online. While that doesn't warrant being a jerk to people just because you can be, it also doesn't warrant giving them the same respect you'd give to a friend of many years.

    Re: Apology to the Moors

I respect the bond you have with your real life buds, but i'm not asking you to give the same trust and respect to everyone you meet. Just that you treat them with the same respect you'd give them as if they were standing face to face with you.

But this is really to bring the community back together, since it used to be what made this server great. Given the fact turbine doesn't provide enough to keep people in game. I mean with the whole mindset i play the way i want because i may never see you ever in my life, probably has got us the gamewide record of most deleted/closed threads. As it is we're about as big of a mess as congress.

Honestly though you're all great people, so what are we to do?

    Re: Apology to the Moors

My problem with your post stemmed from a matter of perspective, "To treat people who are possibly a thousand miles away with same type of respect and worth you'd treat your best friend." says a lot to me also, but not in a positive light. Taking that phrase literally could lead a less skeptical or less experienced person(ie-adolescent players) into a lot of trouble at some point in their life. Friendship and respect that are given without being earned will eventually lead to many shallow friends who might demand respect, but will seldom give it.

We are all real people behind the monitor, and as such we are all full of character flaws and imperfections. Sometimes people have bad days and decide to take it out on the nameless/faceless people of the internet, as the easiest targets are hard to miss. Doing so is like punching the wall, in the end they wind up doing more damage to themselves than to the wall(Kung Fu Masters excluded).

I think the best we can hope for is to greet people in a friendly manner upon first meeting them, to be helpful if we can be. If the response is sympathetic, then the community will grow stronger. If the response is rude and disrespectful, then hey at least we tried. Just move on because there are more people out there willing to try and be friendly than there are jerks whose only joy comes from being rude for the sake of their own ego. Second chances should be given, but if the opportunity is squandered then the problem can probably not be solved by a third or fourth chance.

    Re: Apology to the Moors

Treating people with respect and actually having a feeling of respect for them ie. "i really respect the man my father is" are two seperate things. A true test of character is being able to remain calm courteous and respectful to others even if they do not show us the same courtesy. Unfortunately FF has a # of players who have continued to display a level of disrespect to the community and have on many occasions spouted out things such as "i dont give a sh**t about any of you LOLS", strong communitys are built when people show respect to one another, as in treating eachother kindly, considering how other people feel, and taking into account what affect our actions have on others. Also respect doesn't = trust. You can treat someone with respect and not trust them, it doesnt mean you give them $5000 dollars cause they need help, the two aren't linked. It seems that FF has a bad habit of taking post out of context as well as a number of people who seem to enjoy nothing more than trolling the forums and de-railing threads, seeing as half of our threads get locked or end up soo far off topic within two or three post the whole point of the thread is completely lost. What unknown said is good food for thought for anyone, i believe it was more directed at the current state of our servers community, which is basically nothing but a bunch of drama and people ripping on one another constantly on the forums and in game, so much so that it seems we cant have a succesful thread without a picture of popcorn being posted in reference to people sitting back and enjoying people being rude to each other. I for one would like to see a change in our community, too many people have taken the stance "it is what it is and lets just let it alone" why? Change comes with action, people stepping up to the plate saying and doing the hard things to get things moving, sometimes truth is tuff to accept but it is still truth, if all people deserve a second change then all people deserve to be treated with decency and respect. In summation the right to be treated with decency, to be talked to in a repsectful manner and treated kindly, is a right that all humans deserve and shouldn't have to "earn", no matter how young or old or what culture you come from, is this not the foundation that our country was built upon? That all men (and women) are created equal under God and have the right to be treated as such.

    Re: Apology to the Moors

I was at the grocery store check-out line with like 500 items in my cart and there's this old gentle looking lady standing behind me holding one item. So she says to me, "Excuse me young man, is it possible that I might go ahead of you with my one item? You see standing for long periods of time agitates my arthritis in my knees". So I looked at her and said "I completely understand". Then I kicked her feet out from underneath her and said "Problem solved. Respect you old bag, get some"

I had no idea who she was so obviously she didn't deserve any respect, right Conn? I'm just full of win! I love it!!

    True story btw...

I don't forget what is done. Wether it be a good thing you have done or a not so nice thing (i.e. trolling).

I might forgive in time, but I don't forget.

Deeds and actions, in time, will show true intentions.
