    Re: Loth-i-Lonnath (Elf-only RP kinship)

Hi! Welcome to the server! Don't worry too much - Laurelin is by and large a friendly community.

I'll try and address the main points / questions / worries you've brought up.

As to the lore, relating to RP: before Lotro, I had shedloads of experience of pen'n'paper RPGs, but this was my first experience of MMORPG-type RP. Yes, there are clear differences involved (and pointers are available in some 'How to RP guide' thread I am sure) and it does take a little while to get used to the fluid, dynamic nature of RP interaction without a GM's moderation. Very quickly, you'll get a feel for the flow and etiquette that underpins the mutual negotiation of the RP on Lotro.

But regarding lore, don't fret over it too much: most folk into heavier RP are also polite enough not to go round hitting other players with a quizlist of deep and searching questions that seek to unearth holes in other players' knowledge of the lore - that's an incredibly crass excuse for 'RP'. Most folk will let you bring into normal conversation whatever level of lore you're comfortable with at your own pace; but honestly, very rarely would someone launch into a deep debate of history / event / news with a stranger - and most friends in my experience would rather discuss the qualities of the fragrance of the wine they're quaffing than debate the tactical intricacies of the battles of Beleriand!

Sindarin is rarely an issue - we certainly don't use it much beyond giving greetings - purely as a colourful texture. I often prefer to keep all my dialogue in English since it's assumed I'm always speaking Sindarin. NOBODY will expect you to be fluent in Sindarin!

    As to our kinship...

We are a smallish 'family', but most nights there are on average half a dozen kinnies online, so usually someone to chat with or to lend a hand if needed.

Attendance-wise, Tuesday evening GMT is our kinnight, which we kinda expect most kinnies to turn up for; it's the one RP-guaranteed night of the week (though we generally RP other nights of the week too) and a chance to gather and socialise both IC and OOC. If someone can't make it, all we ask is for a quick message on the kinsite / ingame mail, and we can work round the character's absence somehow.

As to class: wardens and hunters are the two core classes we seek. Obviously warden is a class that needs to be bought, so hunter may be your preferred choice to start with. A hunter may also be best to explain any absences - out on patrol or whatever.

Level...low level is fine to begin with, around kinhall and Falathlorn, but you will need to be correspondingly higher as we go to higher level areas on our adventures. The finer points of profession and background are things that could be discussed ingame - it is important that each character fits into its own niche within the kin, and has some sense of purpose.

I can only suggest what I say to anyone interested in the kin: come and RP with us; hang out for a short while and get an idea of what we're about; either what we do will appeal, or it won't - and that's fine! Every kinship is different, both in culture and dynamic. If we don't 'click', then another kinship may feel more comfortable to you in the way they do things; there is a home for you somewhere on Laurelin!

I hope I've answered some of your questions, but just send a tell to one of us (Curugirion, Aearandir or Durthand) ingame, if you wish to find out some more - 'in the flesh' as it were. We don't bite! Honest!

Excellent! I'm definitely interested in RPing with you folk; I have genned up a pretty little elven Hunter and I hope to get the chance to see some of you in game once I give my confidence the kick-start that it needs.

    Mae govannen.

Im Dolireth o Lindon, telin le thaed.

I'm seeking to find a place in elven ranks.
I'm used to confront Yrch with my spear and shield.
Until this day I have been wandering the lands, battling small band of enemies here and there.
But today I noticed that their numbers have increased, I noticed it's my time to abandon that road and join the ranks of my kinsmen.

    Dagro Dan in Yrch!
I will bring my spear into the Yrch and use my shield to shield the elves remaining on Arda.

Andelu i ven, Nai tiruvantel ar varyuvantel i Valar tielynna nu Vilya!

You may find me wandering in Eriador.
