Id also like to be able to play while sitting...it would improve those nights sitting in front of a fire plucking away a new tune for some casual playing...

Oh, heavens, no. ANYTHING but a crumhorn. A recorder and a fiddle would be nice, though.

Ah, but if you get down to my instrument wishlist, I'd really like... (drumroll please)

    A koto! (Yeah, I'm strange.)
In conclusion, if you happen to see a low-level character wandering around a high-level area... it's probably me.

You're kidding, right? If Blue Oyster Cult had played in the 16th century, their prescription for curing fevers would have been playing 'Don't Fear the Reaper' with more crumhorn!

That video is made of 100% undiluted supreme quality awesome, thank you oldbadger.

Pre-baroque music always reminds me of what music is really about.

I love the tuning too, but for God's sake if we get a crumhorn in LOTRO please tune it better than the clarinet!

*cough* But yeah, some flute improvements would be lovely, and I would wile away far, far too many hours writing fiddle pieces given half a chance.

My only concern is that they don't level-gate new instruments too harshly. Level 25 is reasonable enough, but anything higher for a non-"exotic" instrument (Moor Cowbell I can forgive, for example) would just be silly, IMO.

    Re: New Instrument?

My new instrument choice goes to the lore-appropriate Viol - violin (fiddle), viola, cello! Any sustaining string instrument would be a boon.

My fix would be for all instruments to use the same natural octaves and sound, could this be too hard to do?

Fix number two would be the stance of the musicians. Can we sit, stand, march and maybe even ride? When standing do we have to move like snake charmers?

Thanks Turbine, give the music system some love! Many of us are just here for the music system.

    I agree on all points!

its been years now since I have asked my normal request to turbine:

"please Turbine, before changing an emote stealthily, just make it a new option!"

I'd still love to see our old music stances from 07 come back, a command like /music2 having same effect as /music but would have us in a different musical position.

/music_sit would have us sit and play.

Also, /whistle should be an instrument by itself as well as /sing ( /whistle_sit & /sing_sit also for emote stances )
These would work same as any /music stance but you would whistle all the 3 octaves we have, or, sing all 3 octaves ( midi ooh and aww so perhaps /sing1 and sing2 etc )
Those as additional " no instrument required" instruments/music stances would be awesome in my opinion!

Sustaining string is still highest on my list for new instruments, but, sing and whistle would fun.
as well as maybe a full tubular bell styled range of 3 octaves on either of the cowbells.

Accordian is a bit too modern, even a squeezebox is too modern.

Just think of Christmas carols, like Carol of the Bells, done with a tubular bell instrument, and oohs and awws of singing.
    That would be cool....

    *sigh*

thats my music wishlist hehe, prolly will never see it but I can dream cant I?

    Two things:

    1. TROMBONES FTW!!!!!!!!!!!

    2. I'm pretty sure it's spelled accordion.

But seriously, with some low brass and strings and better woodwind sounds, it would be possible to have a (mostly) full orchestra.

    Re: New Instrument?

I wonder if what was meant by "new instruments" meant how they are related now in skill with the new minstrel layout or meaning level 70-75 versions of our existing instruments :/

I think it is probably the case since we have heard nothing yet about it.

    AW: New Instrument?

Sadly I have the same impression. But I still believe that we will get a new instrument before Sauron's tower crumbles.

    Re: New Instrument?

I agree more instruments would be nice.
But if I could choose just 1, I chose the hurdy‐gurdy.
More like when the middle-ages ;D.
But viola or chello also nice (a).
