You can try, but I think it'll have to be put onto the Lorebook no matter what.

To those who have not attended before its a brilliant event, it was where i first met a lot of brilliant role-players.

Its a good way to get to know those of the elven RP community.

I've never had any wiki vandalism in the 2+ years I've used the lorebook. The main problem I find is that LOTRO is not very good at searching its own wiki. On the other hand, google mines it like a pro. Just do a search on Ales and Tales, Old Winyards, or Weatherstock to see.

Having a lorebook entry provides some advantages of a global repository for information on your event. Its not the prettiest place, but it is easy to edit and can be accessed in game.

    Looking at the 'what-if's' here.

What if a player wears weapons into the Event, is told by everybody to disarm, yet uses a modified event page to his defence?

Key points of what this event was founded on, may be reversed by one person's choice to edit a single word/sentence.

Heck, my guide got Vandalized on the Lorebook - but that's off topic.

You do the same as any other wiki--look at the history and see where the vandalism took place and revert it. I'm not here to tell you to use the lorebook, just that it is a convenient way to keep permanent information around. You are always free to use any method. Perhaps a google doc would be preferred? You can tightly control permissions there.

I do apologize if I sounded rash, at that!

Yes, the Lorebook is a wonderful tool - but please, you must remember - we Europeans aren't as used to it as you are. While I don't speak for the entire majority, most of our most important articles were, as simple as that, articles in a Forum. We were on the land of 'Stickies', instead of 'Wikies'

    ---

Now, to return to topic - I will endeavour to arrive, as Mithon, at the Hall of Fire event. Wednesday, on time!

This looks like a really great event. It's at 2 in the afternoon my time, I think, which is when my kids generally nap so I may try to stop by. I'll have to roll up a baby alt on your server. Any chance there's a kind person who could help me get to Rivendell?

My kinship from its early days at this event always used to provide escort from Ost Guruth to Imladris for those who required it. Sometimes this was by way of accompanying them through the Trollshaws other times by way of the hunters special talents.

The Warband of Imladris has always stood by our role as protectors of the borders of Imladris so would gladly get you to Imladris if you have need.

Just send my main Khalis an IM before the event and i will arrange it for you.

It's actually not too hard to get to Rivendell as a freshly-rolled character these days - I made it there as a level 8 on Landroval by using the free horse whistle that new toons get. Still for company I'd recommend Khalis' kin, they've done a good job bringing in new players and characters to Rivendell.

That's a good tip. I may try to get there on my own. However, if I fail to make it I shall certainly call on Khalis' services! Thanks very much for the assistance.

Does the horse route opener from the gift boxes open Rivendell route as well? Has anyone tested it?

That 1-hour token from the new-player gift box doesn't cause you to learn any new stable points, it just causes the the stable-master to not charge you for the next sixty minutes. The best use of that coin (that I can think of) is during festivals, if you're running the delivery quests for the Inn League or Ale Association, as that can cause you to use the stables a lot in a short period of time. The monetary savings of that token are almost worthless to a character fresh from the tutorial, however.

Keep in mind that any Captain of level 40 can summon you to his/her location if you ask them nicely, join their team, and happen to buy 5 Travel Rations!

Most of the road from Bree to Rivendell is safe to run, with only some parts of Trollshaws having roaming monsters to watch for. I've done the Rivendell run with character level less than 20, so it can be done. Having said that, I might also offer to protect people on run through the Trollshaws earlier that evening (assuming I am online on Wednesday - if I am, I will advertise it on globallff ).

And for those who don't mind spending TP, the Return to Rivendell skill is purchasable for 295 points and is now usable by all races. (According to http://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Return_to_Rivendell that is.)

Saves a trait slot, too. And grinding...

About sticky-ing or lore wiki's the HoF event...

I think I will just do the same as I did with the Codemasters forum: post a reminder every week in this thread. It wasn't a sticky there, so.. It worked! Why should it fail on this forum?

It worked well on the Codemasters Forum Cym so should work totally fine here i would say especially if people keep it on topic.

Would be nice to see people post their thoughts of the event from their characters perspective as well perhaps. For example what do the visiting menfolk think of the elves, or perhaps do the visiting hobbits for yes we do get the odd one think of the food?

Well we can allways ask, what can happen? the same as in codies, no reply...

Yes, it worked like this, reminding all wensdays
The event is great so I guess in the end doesn't matters if its sticky or not... We didn't have one, not that we will miss it. Still would be nice to have one.

Just an FYI, Turbine no longer "stickies" threads, but recommends if you want something more permanent, to create a lorebook entry. The "reminder" should work fine though !

Glad to see that other races can attend... I keep meaning to sneak over and dip my feet in the Laurelin waters (as for what my toons would think, would depend on who I sneak over )
