    Fortunes for Crickhollow

Edit #2: The entire front room was raided yet again (in addition to all of the extra class items and ales I had stored up for people to take during festival time, but that one is less of a surprise). This time I won't try to rebuild--four attempts is quite enough for me. I've replaced what I can with the extras I had stored away, and will keep the house open for the time being.

Thanks again to those who helped out the last three times items were taken. And to those who took the items--please return what you can. The house remains open for their return. If you just needed extra money, I will pay for their return and give you tips for raising funds without resorting to something like this. Please send me a PM or mail Rosalie--I promise that I will not publicly shame you. I just want a collection that the Crickhollow community put together made whole again.

Edit: Half of the fortunes went missing a few months ago--but thanks to the kindness of Ewie, Deremor, Crickit and particularly Fly/Andante/Pellsha, the collection has been restored. Thanks again to the very kind souls who donated their fortunes. Your generosity makes me proud to be a part of the wonderful Crickhollow community.

Greetings fellow Crickits! Some of you may have heard about the fortunes available from the tasty biscuits from the Spring Festival. Each collection of 10 grants a special title (but no tp). Thanks to the generous help of Lukas and Butternut I've put together a full collection of all 50 fortunes and they are now available to all of Crickhollow at:

4 Brookbank Street, Addernotch Community, Shire Homesteads

I do request that you return the fortunes to the storage containers there directly after obtaining the titles so that the community can continue to enjoy them. Also try to keep the fortunes in order so that it will be easier for other people to find the fortunes they need.

Fortunes 1-30 are in the side room next to the main hall (chest 1) and 31-50 can be found in the back bedroom at the end of the hallwall (chest 3). Please excuse the permanent Christmas decor.

Again, please do not remove the fortunes from the house. I would like these to be available for everyone throughout the year. Hopefully you will all enjoy the new titles.

    Cheers,
    Rosalie/Lilia

Wow - thanks. I will be sure to leave some flowers (if there is space in the chest).

Edit: Haha, just noticed at the last one that I actually did not have to open each one and "read" it. Thanks again! I left a pot of each flower arrangement I am able to make - hope you will find a spot for it. Didn't realize that some of those snowmen were for inside, nice touch ;o)

    Re: Fortunes for Crickhollow

I gave this a couple of days in hopes that they would be returned, but it seems that fortunes 1-18, 23, and 24 have gone missing. I am willing to pay for their return if it comes to it, but I am still holding out some hope that the fortunes will make their way back so that the community may continue to enjoy them.

If I do not get them back by the end of the week I'm afraid I will have to lock the house back down. I hope it will not come to that, because I know that people were still using the fortunes to gain the titles.

    Re: Fortunes for Crickhollow

Let's not lose all hope just yet.

Potentially someone started and then had to go off in a rush. Just imagine, the other week I had no computer for a week because it crashed. I was here on the forums however because I am able to do that at work, not everyone is. But that person could also have learnt it ingame from someone and never comes to the forums.

I think the number of missing fortunes is an indication, the last 2 were probably just mixed up. It seems unlikely that someone needed exactly those and took them.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that this will end well.

    Re: Fortunes for Crickhollow

Please tell me this isn't so.....that Crickhollow would go down this rabbit hole. I'm hoping that, as stated above, that is was a fluke or mix up.

Rosalie, I love ya! You're one of the best! On behalf of the whole of Crickhollow I humbly apologize that this has happened to you. I can't think of anything to help cut the shock, but I am more than willing to do whatever I can to bring a happy smile back to your chubby hobbit face. I'm a kindred weaponsmith that will make anything u like. Also, You can bet your bottom dollar that you will be immortalized in my next story on my blog. As a matter of fact, i'm gonna write on on ya special. I'll post here in the forums when its on the blog!!!!!!!!

    Re: Fortunes for Crickhollow

The fortunes haven't made their way back to the house--actually a few more items have been taken, but thankfully not any other fortunes. I have a chest of fireworks and pipeweed that people can feel free to grab from for their celebrations. The last grab was a bit more complete than I would have liked, but the Cinco de Mayo lottery replenished my stocks. Feel free to take a few to enjoy (and hopefully not to simply sell).

Even though the fortunes didn't make their way back and probably never will, I've decided to keep the house open and will try my best to piece the collection back together. Thank you very much to Ewie, Deremor, Fly, Crickit and Pellsha for sending over their fortunes.

I would also like to thank all of you for your kind words, particularly Blackadder and Rouven. You are the type of people who make this server truly great.

You are extremely welcome. Words are small compared to deeds, so that makes you tops in my book.

I'm so sorry this happened Rosalie. I don't have any fortunes, but if I can help with anything else, please let me know!

I still hold hope that the better nature of people will come through and this will be remedied... what bothers me most is that you were doing such a thoughtful thing and got burned in the process! I'm glad that you seem to have kept your belief in the idea that there is more good than bad in the world... even the Middle Earth one!

    Re: Fortunes for Crickhollow

Thanks to Fly's generous contribution of nearly 100 biscuits, the full collection has finally been restored. If you are still in need of the 5 titles, please visit 4 Brookbank Street in the Addernotch Community of the Shire Homesteads. Those who have visited in the last couple of months will need to take 3, 4, 5 and 18 to complete the deeds for "the peculiar" and "same old song" titles. And again, PLEASE return the fortunes to the chests once you have obtained the titles, and ideally put them back in order.

I have put a few extras in the sitting room in the back if anyone wants to fill in a few fortunes for their personal collection (as well as most of the beers that the Ale Association requires)--the fortunes that need to be returned to the chests are in the front trophy room and back bedroom at the end of the long hall. I've learned my lesson and am now maintaining a backup collection of my own, but will continue to pass along the extras.

Thanks again to everyone who donated to the first collection, helped rebuild the current one, and encouraged me to keep the house open. Hopefully those of you who missed out on the titles the first time around will be able to get them now.

I just went and did this. Went to the wrong chest at first, I guess that middle one's where you're storing your surplus ones as opposed to the two carefully-ordered ones :-).

Thank you so much for doing this, it's awesomely kind of you!
