    The perfect relic is the one I want. The relic I want changes depending on the character I'm putting it on and other equiped items that character has. Does my guardian need outgoing healing? No, but my RK would love it. Does my RK want might? Not particulary, but my champion would kill for it. Having said that, I would like to see us able to build our own relics. There are 23 relic "components" listed here. Split them equally between crafting professions. Let each crafting profession make a component, a material in final relic assembly. Give the components tiers, like the current crafted relic system, so that lesser powered components can be created easily and frequently, and greater powered components are harder and slower to make. Then allow us to assemble, through the melding screen, any three of these components as we see fit. Min-maxers would be happy, balanced players would be happy. Everyone wins.

    This would be another boost to the sorely lacking crafting professions. With the inability to recover relics, we will need to be (relatively) continually crafting and trading these relic components to keep our shiny new toys where we want them. It would also completely silence the continual "I can't get the old T7-T9 relics any more" complaints. Now, if it so suits you, you can.

    Attempting to create one perfect relic that fits everyone is doomed to failure. There are so many different charater types and so many different play styles that nothing can satisfy them all. At least allow us the chance to make ourselves happy. Personally, I'd bend over backwards in game to have a system like this, a system that actually allows me to customise my chacracter how I see fit.

    I realize relics are entirely passive stat boosts, but the name/stat theme (which probably looks weird) came out of the idea of the active response skills in the game, such as abilities that are only used after parrying an attack. I wanted to make a relic that suggested that sort of activity, resisting an incoming attack and punishing the attacker for it, so a resist-to-"fast" crit stat theme with a name to match.

    Trivial sidenote: I originally made this a gem, but afterward two things occurred to me. First, the name works better as a rune ("Strident Gem of Reprisal" lacks the alliteration bonus). Second, the only relics I see with an attack speed boost are runes, which was probably intentional (didn't want people stacking it?), so...yeah. Stat-wise I'd have more interest in it as a gem, but thematically it makes more sense as a rune.

    Thanks for the little contest/inquiry. This was interesting to think about.
