Children of Arda - an RP kin for all your needs!

    Greetings, travelers!

I am Lindethiel Tindomerel, minstrel and head chef of our humble house. You, however, may call me Lin. I know elven names can seem complicated for many simpler folk.

We, the 'Children of Arda', are always looking for new peoples to join our home. Shadows grow in the East, and battles ravage homes of once peaceful Men, Hobbits, Dwarves and Elves. While you might think yourself mighty enough to do battle on your own, 'tis never a weakness to have friends at your side or a house for the night. Our family is always around to help one another, whether in combat or crafting or simply the gathering of information.

If you are interested to hear more about us, or think you should like to join our home, please contact either Lindethiel, Zhie, Ellonur, Baythul or Merrila.

May the stars shine brightly upon your path,
    Lindethiel

((Children of Arda is medium to heavy RP kin, though we cater to all levels of experience. We have a kinhouse and our own personal forum. Some of our members did not even know what RP meant when they first met us, and now they love to participate. Some of our members are tabletop vets.

We are casual, and don't have requirements of time, RP, money, or level. We believe real life should always come first, and that a game should be fun, not work.

We use kinchat for OOC, and encourage RP to be done in /say. That way, if you just want to relax after work and chat about your day, there's no pressure. But if you're looking to hang out IC, you can find someone to hang out with and venture forth, bringing others into your madness (perhaps) as well!

If you have any questions, please, feel free to contact us. We're always happy to help.

I am relatively new to the game (to any MMO actually), and I am glad that the RP community in Imladris begins to grow.
My toon is Maud Woodbine, from Archet, and I'm currently looking for an environment in which to begin to learn about RP. So I will contact you in game.

((Children of Arda is now starting regular RP events, in a starter zone near you! Look for our white names wandering around questing or enjoying some ales in a tavern, and feel free to get involved. Whether you're a regular RPer or have never RPed before, or if you're a member of another RP kin - we'd love to meet you!

Also keep an eye peeled for upcoming instance runs - completely In-Character! A few of our higher level, generous members and officers are going to be offering GB or GA runs with an RP twist. Get your quests done and your pretty gear, AND enjoy some quality RP while you do. I'll try to post here if we know ahead of time when they'll happen, but they may also be spontaneous runs.

And as always, if you have any questions or would like to get more information, you can post below or send an in-game mail or /tell to Lindethiel, Bandoras, Grimdan, or Zhie.))

Re: Children of Arda - an RP kin for all your needs!

My word! Oh, forgive my sudden surprise and allow me to introduce myself. I am Bandoras Brandybuck, known to some as Stumblefoot. I am the present leader of the Children of Arda, steward until our kin-leader returns from whatever shadow may have taken him.

Like stars in the midnight sky, the Children of Arda stand as a light against the growing darkness out of the East. In this kin we have found fellowship, knowing that we are not alone against the forces of the Enemy. Come, stand with us and together we shall bring the darkness of Shadow to an end!

I can still recall my early days with the Children: Fearful of the troubles upon the road to Rivendell, or even my own trepidation when I first crossed the Brandywine, and even to the present as I stand in the shadows of Carn Dum. But what stands out more is the compassion and faith of my kinsmen! Through terrible darkness they have always been my light and have ever been the strength needed to face the Enemy. But, what stands out more in my mind are the fine conversations and meals shared at the Prancing Pony, or even in our lovely kinhall. Oh, don't mind the Warg at the front door - it's just a trophy, though quite life like!

So, as I was welcomed into this kin, so I welcome you. Come, share your journey across Middle-Earth with us and together let us craft and tell stories that shall be sung for ages!

((Greetings! I'm Bandoras, Tur of the Children of Arda! I entered CoA as a regular member and have found myself, quite by surprise, leading this kin. Yet, many of these members have done more than simply become 'gaming buddies', they have become my friends. We are a casual kin, hosting RP events, instances and skirmishes - yet never obliging any to attend our events. After all, we all have lives outside of the game. Still, if you have a passion for this beautiful world created by Tolkien, don't be afraid to contact any of us. We're always glad to find kindred spirits!))

Re: Children of Arda - an RP kin for all your needs!

Just wanted to add a bit of an update, since our website moved a few months back...

    http://childrenofarda.mmoguildsites.com/

We have also transitioned from doing the majority of the RP in a chat channel to RPing with our characters our and about (so basically, we went from being social within our own kin, to being generally social ^_^)

Which is probably why a lot of us aren't leveling very quickly, but are staying on way too late having a good time....

(And, in case you stumble upon this before May 21st of 2011, our kin is hosting a delightful in-game wedding... even if you already belong to a kin, aren't all that interested in our kin but want to RP on Saturday night, or aren't familiar with RP but want to try it out, send an in-game letter to Bainith and he will be sure to mail an invitation to you. Because every good wedding has at least one person no one can ever remember meeting before....)

Re: Children of Arda - an RP kin for all your needs!

    More updateness...

The url for our site has again changed - the old site still redirects, but for those who come across this thread in the future, the url is:

    http://childrenofarda.shivtr.com/

Also, we've come to the conclusion we're really a medium-to-heavy RP kin. It's one of those 'the last one to know' ironic things, right? We just thought all the pie jokes made us light RP, but apparently, if you run through skirms RPing and roleplay extensively with NPCs as you're questing, you don't get to be light RP. So if you are looking to join an RP kin, send a tell to our kinleader, Lindethiel, or to one of our officers, Anariel, Bainith, Bandoras, Gerhild, Lithodora, Siltho, Valarda, Wilibald, Yucca, or Zhie. And if you're just looking to RP without joining a kin (or while sticking with the one you're in), send a tell to find out where the RP is at. ^_^

The Children are always open for recruitment, and welcome everyone to feel free to say hi in-game or poke us on our kinsite.

You're always welcome to join in on our RP if you bump into us wandering around towns, and we're always happy to make new friends and engage in more stories. No matter your level of RP experience, if you're interested in learning and growing alongside us, we'll be happy to welcome you into our family.

Hi, Winterwolf! Good question. We have a forum set up on our kinsite for that purpose; however, all of our current members prefer RPing in-game versus on the forum, so it hasn't been used. I know at least three of our members (myself included) have done forum-style RPs in the past, and would probably be happy to try some out here, if there was interest.

We do have fanfiction on the site as well, as many members enjoy writing about their characters solo, so that might also be of interest.

Hey Kaelalas. We are always happy to have new RPers come join us when they see us out and about in-game, and your kin would certainly be welcome to approach our members and strike up a conversation.

As for events, we've been hoping to find a good time (darned timezones making things difficult) for everyone to have a weekly RP gathering. I'd be happy to try to work in a good time for you guys as well, or if you have any specific ideas, feel free to contact me further and we can see what we can work out!

Tonight, though (shameless plug!) CoA is hosting the Superb Steed Soiree ( http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.p...adris-RP-event ) from 6-8 PM servertime. It's an RP-encouraged event with TP prizes in two categories: fashion matching warsteeds, and fashion matching regular steeds. We'll have many of our members there and we will be in full RP mode, so if you're around and would like to hang out, you're welcome to come by whether or not you wish to compete.

Was planning to attend, but my kinship's raid lasted a bit longer than expected haha. Hope it went well though
