I've often wanted to try RPing on here, but I have no idea how to do it. I did D&D irl, so I know how, I just don't know how, haha.
Same thing as D&D really.
RP? Can i get an explanation on that? I've seen some people using the RP channel but whatever they were saying didn't really make sense to me.
Generally most of the rpers I know in game and play with don't use the rp channel. We use the emotes and says. If you check out the rp styles on laurelin and landoval, you'd see those are used too and are the main ways of expressing.
I'd recommend reading this : http://migeyefoxe.deviantart.com/art...uette-70451405 or googling up other forms of rp etiquette. Alternatively, stop by and watch us at SNS
LoL on the way they complicated it so much. But i see where they are going with it.
This might be a better explanation.
Im probably not the best person for RP since my idea of fun is to jump on and run around the milestone in 21. hall with my 150% run speed skill on.

Hehe, the thing about RP is that it's complicated and there's a lot of different styles. Check the Laurelin and Landoval servers. We're pretty much more relaxed around here and such. Just stop by and bring pie a few of the rpers tend to lurk about in world chat.
The thing is that rp for some folks means creating a character with a personality who has a history in middle earth, who has experienced what middle earth is like. An analogy I'd use is that LOTRO is a book and one of the characters, is a character inside the book. There's storylines and such going on in the kin/between kins and rp. This is what usually the more er.. hard core rpers do.
For some folk though, they play themselves in an LOTR setting... like how would it be if they were in LOTR. This is pretty all right too and a few folks tend to rp this way especially if they're new or still finding their characters or just casual rpers.
For others, the idea of RP means to emote and such in game. I've heard of people who thought playing the game also means role playing.
Given the large variety of ideas, its not hard to see why there can be confusion and mixing ups in getting an idea of what it means by roleplaying.
What a difference a few months can make. Last night, it was pretty awesome to see so many RPers in Bree -- so many, that half of the RP crowd had to relocate down the street to the mess hall to fit everyone -- and it's a trend that's been continuing. It used to be that only a few kins were role playing actively, but now there's quite the variety in players, not just the same faces every night. For a Wednesday, I was impressed by the turnout without any amount of pre-planning.
I love roleplaying but have only just started to experience it on LOTRO. Are there regular meeting places on Imladris where rp takes place? Is the Mess Hall one of these places? I've never been in there!
Is there any specific user channel (sort of like GLFF) on Imladris for RP?
