    RP matter on Imladris

    Hi,

before I start to talk about Rp, I'd like to say I'm pretty new to LOTRo and Ive started to paly it only when I discovered it can be played in role play style. I've alway afraid to play MMO about LOTR because I thought it might ruin my feeling about LOTR itself.

But finally, I'm playing it since Imladris server started and I'm ... like 50% disappointed theres too few ppl who actually RPing hard, even RPing easy. I was expecting, as many said before this server starts, it will be like Landroval with tons of RPers.

I dont mean that I'm bored by the game or so. Not at ALL i love every moment i can spend in this only MMORPG which I really can play with heart, but I'm just said about interaction between players, many of them have "/rp on" but they are running around the town like crazy and do silly stuff.

OK, ... so thats my first post - a whining one. I've met like... 5 good RPers by the whole time and i just hope that one day i will find a really good kinship full of RP players.

    Hannon le, for reading this

To be honest, although the idea was tossed around of Imladris becoming a "little Landy", that really has not been the case, as people have ended up staying on Landroval rather than rerolling here. If you are looking for RP on one of the new servers, you might want to look into Crickhollow which has five kins which are doing medium to heavy RP, and also has scheduled RP events. Imladris does not currently have scheduled RP events like Crickhollow and Landroval does, but if you are interested in staying here you might want to try looking into the following kins: Order of Oiolossë or Tarciryan Knights, which do list light RP as activities their members are interested in.

Yukiechan is correct, i'm originally from Landroval and I decided to reroll here to start new adventures and make new friends. While the RP scene here isn't huge, nor comparable to Landroval, there are still some very active roleplayers. This includes my kinship, the Tarciryan Knights, who prefer a more "light" approach to RP through events, which makes it easier for folks to warm up to. Order of Oiolossë is another kin, and there are also some more hardcore RP types such as the Children of Arda. Pandemonium Club are into active RP as well.

It's a matter of time, and finding the right people. As far as publicly organized rp events, don't expect much of it here. But that doesn't mean RP doesn't exist here in Imladris. Either way, good luck!

Crickhollow is where the RP is at, thanks to Second Breakfast. We are way more RP than Imlardis ever will be I see Imlardis as a small server like Gladden or Arkenston with no label.

Actually starting over as a new player is a lot easier, as you most likely you have not advanced very far, and you would quickly be able to get back where you were. Plus you can always think of the leveling that was done on the first character as just a way of having gotten some experience with the class and some free TP.

For quest packs, they are shared throughout the account, for every one you buy you have access to it on all characters and across all servers. Items like riding skill would be needed to purchase per character.

Well I have to admit ... since I've done this topic I've just met several RPers in game, so now I feel a lil bit silly ... still thank you for info.

I do have to agree Elk, RP on this server isnt as good as i hoped it would be, but I still have hope that there will be new players interested in joining or just randomly RPing, i met one person who said they thought RPing was just playing the game itself, which disappointed me to say the least, but not all people are into the RP style, i just hope more people on this server show an interest, my kin Rising Force has been around for quite some time and we only really recruit RPers or people with the will to try to RP so as to show them the ropes, I just would like to see some open RP events on this server so that we all have the chance to connect and come together as a community.

We would be more than happy to assist in Server wide RP events, to promote Imladris RP community.

The Knights really don't actively roleplay other than within Kinship Ceremonies and RP events, most of the time we are indeed OOC. However, sitting in Bree at the Prancing Pony just jabbing away doesn't really appeal to alot of folks either.

I honestly believe something that's more entertaining that encourages character growth would be great. A good example is Landroval and their Ales n Tales events. It really brings together a lot of kins.

If we want to get something organized, i'm more than happy to assist.

I will speak to the officership of my kin about such an idea and we can see if we can arrange a meeting of your kin and some of the others to come up with some events that we can all enjoy and participate in.

A few friends and I RP and I would love to see the Imladris group come together. Maybe make a wide kinship alliance. But I do often see Rper's together in groups but I would love for us all to get together and share our Tales and would love to have the opportunity to make some new friends and the chance to have many great adventures together. Meysh and I have met a few people on our long journey and the first chapter has just come to a close. Maybe I'll post the story on here sometime as we are writing the event from a journalistic first person sort of view. Kind of like Bilbo did with there and Back again.

Yes, I know about your kin as a RP. We also are basicaly all RPrs and we are Rping a lot in our special channel (arda), but of course we have about 10-15 active members so it's not huge. I will definitely tell to our officer to look in this topic; then she will hopefully contact you or other officers from TK.

I would also like to get my kin Bolstered as an RP kin. Right now we're trying to get a Kin house and then we'll begin recruiting but I'll have to get in touch with you guys about doing events and such together and maybe all of us RPers can finally get together. Add Saryn in game and drop me a line sometime!

I have also spoken to the leader of my kinship and the officers about arranging events and they were on board with the idea, if you wish to speak with her, you can send her an in game msg via mail. Or you can contact any officer in the kin and the msg will be sent to her, her name is Gwyyndil.

I wouldn't suggest rolling on Imladris.
I'm a new LOTRO player over from WoW and let me say.
I have been very disappointed so far with the RP community, I will often hail someone in the street and they will keep running to send tells to someone only to have them respond an hour later or not at all.
    *grumble*
I am not at all impressed and going to reroll on Landy.

Hi SyreLancaster, if you are interested in RP-ing, you may wish to seek out my kin leader Redwine, from my kin "Call To Arms of The Free Folk". We are a small kin that accomodates both questing/grinding and RP and that we are interested in liaising with the other RP kins for events etc. : )

    RP Events? Ales and Tales?

If you do it, they will come.

You folks with the RP kins seem to have the right idea and you have the resources to make it happen. Start small, it will grow on its own.

Perhaps a different Inn every week. Make a circuit of it. Minstrels with their instruments, bards with their tales, etc.

    Ill be there.

I can tell you that there is something in the works for bringing Ales and Tales or something like it to Imladris. Likely to start in June; the kinship that is on Imladris trying to collaborate on this is currently in the midst of an RP wedding happening this coming weekend (virtual weddings - just as hard to plan as real ones, except you don't worry so much if it rains).

(Which, actually, if anyone wants to come to the wedding or crash the reception in fantastic RP style, drop me a line in-game [Bainith] and I can send an invitation... the bride is known to invite random people, so it actually is pretty much IC for random people to show up... it's a Hobbit wedding, so there will be pie and fireworks)

Really is a shame that RP is forsaken in games such as this. I've never ran across anyone rp'ing since I've started this game on Imladris.

I think a lot has to do with being in the right places at the right times, or knowing who is an RPer and asking them where stuff is happening at any given time. The kin I'm in (Children of Arda) probably has some sort of RP going on at least five nights a week, and we've found that Rising Force and the Night Watch both have some pretty active RPers in them -- to the point of passing on the street or stopping at a mailbox = RP time.

I will say, we did have an incident last week where a player literally tried to chase a small group of us out of one of the cities for RPing, saying we should be using a dedicated channel for it and not use /say and /emote because it was flooding their screen. If there are other people like that, or if that player has taken it upon themselves to police the game as they see fit, then that could be part of why people are RP-shy on Imladris.

The Prancing Pony, Forsaken Inn, and Ivy Bush all tend to be utilized often enough for RP, but there are other places as well that you learn to go once you start getting to know the RPers (places that are obviously not broadcast in an open forum like this to keep things mentioned in the above paragraph from happening).

Saturday nights, there is a 'Saturday Night Social' that Skalanis started; not sure where it will be held this coming Saturday but here is the thread for keeping an eye on that: http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.p...y-Night-Social
