want to be in a band?

If you want to be in a band, the Lonely Mountain Band currently has four member bands, three of them always recruiting new members and willing to help you learn how to play in a band.

I would also like to offer Kudo's this week to Camara Banks for her spectacular arrangement of the full 1812 Overature performed this week by the Green Hill Music Society.

The LMBand also has several members who do music arangements and help other members learn the fine points of creating music for performance individually and in various bands.

So you prospective musicians looking for a kinship, please consider the Lonely Mountain Band.

I would like to mention that Windy Acres Ranch is part of the Lonely Mountain Band kinship. In fact, the original inspiration and funding came from Tinki! Without hard-working volunteers and generous LMB patrons, there wouldn't be any horse racing at Windy Acres. We also have a fantastic formation riding team and riding club which everyone is welcome to join.

Login and crashing problems persist, but the Lonely Mountain Band is still here. The Bards, Beers and Longbeards 2nd anniversary concert has been postponed for one week due to these problems. Other shows are going on as always. Stop by Ales & Tales Monday evenings and see some of what we are all about.

    Thumbs up

Congratulations to the kin for bringing home the 2013 DragonSlayer Award for Best Gaming Team/Guild/Clan!

To celebrate and let the award go to our heads, I think we should strut about referring to ourselves as The Lonely Mountain Band Gaming Team/Guild/Clan from here on out. I think we should also petition for a /princesswave emote from the Valar so that we can salute our adoring fans during the ticker tape parades.

    No? Too much, huh?

    *sigh*

I'm returning to LOTRO after a bit of a break, miss the great story and RP community. Please send me an in-game whisper of mail. My Human Champion's name is Danendil. I used to play a few years back with the Band, but sadly, I think it was on a toon that one of my kids deleted. Don't worry, she's currently on trial for 2nd degree Toonslaughter.

Join us for the Shadowfax Sprint, a challenging war steed race at Minas Eriol!

Meet at the Forsaken Inn at 2:30pm EST/servertime on Saturday, February 22.

This is a race for all war steeds. Choose the best combination of attributes,
equip your best tack, train your equestrian skills, and compete with veteran
riders to win 25 gold and 1,000 Turbine Points!

    FAQ

    * Can I ride a standard or fast steed in the race?

Not this time. Part of the challenge of the course is navigating the obstacles on a war steed.

    * What kind of war steed can I ride?

Any size, any bridle, any traits, and any level war steed is welcome. You will have to decide which configuration is best for this course.

    * What are the prizes for 2nd and 3rd place?
Second place wins 1,000 TP + 20 gold and third place wins 1,000 TP + 15 gold.

    * How can I win Turbine Points? Don't I have to purchase those?

It is also possible to buy Turbine Point codes which can be activated in the store. The winner will receive a code which redeems for 1,000 points.

    * What are the rules of the race?
The rules will be explained before the race begins. You can also click here to read them now.

    * Can you offer any tips?

Wear a unique outfit and set of tack. This will make it easier to identify you in a "photo finish". Do not jump as you cross the finish line, as it makes it more difficult for the judges to catch your name in a screenshot. Practice the course ahead of time. Memorize all of the checkpoints and major obstacles.

In answer to questions I have received several times in the past week --

Windy Acres Ranch is a group of equestrian and roleplay enthusiasts that work together to host interesting events on the Landroval server. Although it is part of the Lonely Mountain Band, you don't need to be an LMB member to volunteer at an event.

All Windy Acres events are open to the public. Most events are visitor-friendly, which means you can visit from another server and participate with a level 7 character that you recently created. Turbine Point and mount prizes will follow you back to your home server, because they are account-wide.

We give Turbine Points and steeds away by giving the winners a special code. These codes are activated in the in-game store using Add Points (TP) or at MyAccount.Turbine.com as a Product Key (steeds). These codes are obtained from Turbine, Wal-mart, or certain gaming magazines. (Many thanks to Sapience, Tinki, and Floradine!)
