    Shared Storage

I've been reading the forums and looking around and I'm a bit confused about shared storage.

Where do I get it? I've looked in my bank, and all I have is the next chest I can unlock at level 30.

Is it something that can still be purchased?

Can I get it from online or have to purchase in the store?

    Thanks!

    Welcome to Middle Earth!

It should be available in your My Account page as Adventurer Pack or perhaps Shared Storage. You can still buy it now. We waited for it a long time and I love mine.

    Good hunting!

Perfect, I found it on my account page, thanks!

Before I buy it, is the shared storage through a house or through the bank? I don't have a house because I'm pretty sure I can't afford the upkeep.

    Edit : added question

    Re: Shared Storage

It will be through the bank. You will have two separate buttons to push when you interact with the bank NPC. One will be "Open Bank" and the other will be "Open shared storage".

    Re: Shared Storage

Note that shared storage will be available from the Lotro Store for Turbine Points if you don't want to pay cash for it. Also, your house will have 1 or 2 (depending on size) chests available that are also shared storage, so you can get shared storage for just in-game gold if you want to pay the cost of the house and the weekly maintenance (the cost really isn't that much and is easy to get as you get higher in level).

    Re: Shared Storage

I purchased the Siege of Mirkwood and Adventure pack shared storage this morning and am already loving the shared storage.

I know that I'm going to want to do farming/cooking on an alt, so it's perfect.

I'm still fuzzy about the housing. I'll need to go read more about it. Running to the south of Bree everytime I want to go home seems like it would be a little inconvenient.

I was hoping so, thanks Riamus. I thought maybe when I got up around the 40's I might be able to farm enough gold to pay the maintenance fee. I probably should have waited, I wasn't thinking about the game going f2p. Oh well, the more money they have the more content we get in the end!

A house will have shared storage too? Wow, my house is going to have to be a priority lol.

    Re: Shared Storage

You get a recall to your house on a 1 hour CD once you purchase one, so you never have to run there. FYI you can take a horse from the South Bree stables to the homesteads...don't run there.

Yes, your house has 1 or 2 chests (standard vs deluxe house) that all of your characters can use. You can even set permissions to allow others to use them if you're so inclined.

    Re: Shared Storage

One important think about housing is - it's on a per server basis. So if you buy a house with one character on a server, all of your characters can immediately access it.

Which means all your characters immediately get a Return To Personal House skill. The skill is on a One-hour cooldown (as mentioned already) and requires a Traveling Ration to use.

You don't need to run to your house - once each hour you can just show up there. Or, you could go to the nearest town center and buy a ride; I think I've bought a ride three times... ever...

    Re: Shared Storage

You will have no trouble paying maintenance even before level 30. A standard house is only 50s, so you're out doing quests each day, you will make that much easily in a week (usually in less than a day of playing) at level 20. At 40+, I can make up to around 500s each day I play (I play usually for a few hours or more) and I am not running skirmishes or doing quests that are over my level. Just selling vendor trash easily covers housing costs by then. And I have a deluxe that has 150s per week maintenance.

    Re: Shared Storage

Ohh I didn't know about the 'return to house' skill, that's great!

Those prices aren't as bad as I thought. I'd read somewhere you needed 3 gold a week to maintain your house. Obviously that was wrong.

I'm wondering though after reading some of the thread in general, after purchasing the Siege of Mirkwood I will keep that after the game goes f2p? I won't have to buy anything that I have now again right?

Every expansion and feature that you already have now, you keep.

Frood - Man Minstrel Garmun - Man Captain

    Re: Shared Storage

The only thing you will have to unlock that you have now would be some of the areas from the original game (such as Lone Lands, North Downs, Trollshaws, etc). You will be able to travel to those areas, but not get quests from them. Unless they change that from what is being said right now, of course. Anything from the expansions themselves will be kept after F2P starts and you'll have the starter areas and the Bree-Lands area from the original as well as (I believe) the entire epic quest line.

    Re: Shared Storage

Is shared storage available person server, or per account? I have alts on two different servers, since I can't even get on Brandywine server as a VIP it's so busy, I usually have to go to Gladden. But my highest alts are on Brandywine, so I would like to use shared storage between all characters if possible.

Shared storage is between characters on the same server, not across servers, items cannot be shared/moved from one server to another server.

Shared storage is per account. However, the stuff is only shared between characters on the same server. So once you buy Shared storage, all your characters everywhere have access to shared storage, but the items you store exist only on the server you store them on.

Buying more shared storage space increases the size on all servers too.
