    Question Legendary items crafting

So, I'm a newbie and I'm about to pick my craft.

The thing is: I don't understand legendary item crafting. Is it only for weapons? Does that mean weapon crafters can make better stuff (legendary items) and armor crafters can't? Can you forge a legendary weapon and name it with a weapon crafter but you can't do that to armor?

Can anyone explain me how this works or point me to good guides? Thanks!

    Re: Legendary items crafting

Out of all the "maker" crafts (Cook, Scholar, Tailor, Weaponsmith, Metalsmith, Jeweler and Woodworker), only one craft cannot make any kind of Legendary Item. That craft is Cook (while hitting a raid boss in the face with a Legendary Pie would be awesome, Turbine hasn't added that to the game). Cooks can make crafted relics which can be attached to legendary items, but they cannot make any legendary items.

All other "maker" crafts can make legendary items of some sort. Scholars can make legendary books for minstrels and lore masters, tailors can make legendary tools for burglers and legendary satchels for rune keepers, metalsmiths can make legendary belts for guardians and legendary emblems for captains, jewelers can make legendary runes for champions and legendary runestones for rune keepers, woodworkers can make legendary bows for hunters, legendary javelins for wardens and legendary clubs/spears/hammers for any class that can use them, weaponsmiths can make legendary daggers/axes/maces/swords/halberds for any class that can use them.

A character does not need to be at level cap (or near it) to craft legendary items. They do have to be a Supreme Master in a "maker" craft and have "kindred" reputation in a craft guild to make legendary items appropriate to that craft guild. I have a level 38 character that is a Supreme Master Metalsmith and has kindred reputation in the Metalsmith guild and have used that character to make several legendary guardian belts.

    Re: Legendary items crafting

That clears things up. Thanks a lot!
One more question though: Can you name the legendary items you make as well or that is just done at npcs?

When you make a crafted Legendary Item you can give it a name. So you can make a "Minstrel's Songbook of the Third Age" and have the tooltip say "Name: Failsauce".
You can give it another name to replace the "Minstrel's Songbook of the Third Age" at an NPC.

You only need to have Supreme open. Plus be "kindred". I Supreme mastered my woodworker by making legendary bows and the first two tiers of crafted relics.

My kin loved the Yula Bunny handling out sealed relic boxes on Easter Sunday.
Unless stated otherwise, all content in this post is My Personal Opinion.

    Have a look here.

If you look, e.g. for a burglar, here:
    http://www.northshield.co.uk/LOTRO/Class/burglar.htm

You will see all the LIs for the Burg that can be crafted, who can craft them, and what they cost...
