    How about a new race?

I have seen some discussion for new classes. I think it's time for a new race. No, not Beornings. Not eagles. Not ninja wizards. Not werewolf killer whales (well, maybe).

    -----------------------

    Vala (pl. Valar)

    A few representative skills:
    • Aule's Folly: 1,000 initial damage to dwarves on all servers (logged on or not). Additional damage of 1,000 each second for 60 seconds. No mitigations. Cooldown: 30 seconds.

    • Numenor Holiday: Flood the current map with 40 feet of water. Duration: 24 hours.

    • My Pal Ulmo: Summon a pack of werewolf killer whales. Requires Numenor Holiday to be active.

    • Chains of Morgoth: 100% chance of root. Duration: 20 minutes. Logouts disabled. Rebooting punishable by permanent ban.

    • Yavanna's Bananas: Restores full morale to all companions and gives +50,000 in-combat morale regeneration. Fellowhip or raid members below level 125 will be instantly incinerated.

    • Whim of Eru: Instantly complete all quests in your quest log. (Oh, what the hay. All the deeds, too.)

    • Music of the Ainur: Apply -500 reputation per second with all factions on any character playing non-lore tunes.

    • Vana's Mighty Unquenchable Flame of Doom: 3 - 5 initial damage to auroch-kind, additional 1 damage every 5 seconds for 10 seconds. Does not stack. Induction time: 45 seconds. Interruptible. Cooldown: 30 minutes.

    Some racial traits:
    • Manwe's Displeasure: You are disturbed by the poor judgment and skill displayed by certain members of your group. Begin rehabilitating these low-performing companions with '/kidneypunch name' which will reduce the player by five levels. If the offending companion is already at level 5 or lower, the character is deleted.

    • Alqualonde Antics: You tire of random invites to join an unknown kinship. Set the offending kinship members upon each other with '/incite kinslaying'. All kinship members spar until incapacitated. Repair costs are doubled. Their kinship house burns down. (Thanks to The Gneech)

    • Morgoth's Greed: All raid or fellowship companions -100 on loot roll.

    • That dirty skunk Melkor stole my loot and he can't even use it and he's just gonna sell it to a vendor and I really needed those boots: All raid or fellowship companions -100 on loot roll.

I've been down on alts lately, but I'd totally roll one of these.

Nice skill, but I fear it has a huge sign on its posterior reading "Soon to be nerfed because of unintended misuse in the Moors."

I don't think this will make the Vala class as it is already on the list for a new level 68 skill! It's just that the Devs can't decide whether to give it to the Rune-keeper or Lore-master class...although with that sort of induction time it's more probably suited to the Lore-master...

Nooooooo! And here I just spent the past few days in Forochel getting myself to kindred with ole sparky hands. Bah! I already feel bad enough about enjoying my RK so much. *emphatic sigh* Well, at least the Lore-Masters and Minstrels are coming with me, too. Those darn glorified Minstrels, thinking that they have the music of life! They need to learn their place...yeah. Wait. Nevermind it! That'd be two rep-less toons.

Hilarious. Thanks to the OP for a giggle.

There are plenty of far fetched ideas that children think up, like one I heard recently from a 7 year old; wouldn't it be sweet if the bear you were attacking joined your team and you kept getting more and more and then you could beat anyone!

But I don't post such nonsense as an idea for turbine to implement.

Yes, precisely, but only people who are members of the same kinship as each other.

Oh, you are so too late! This idea is so golden, Turbine should have it ready for Isengard. But the auroch damage does seem OP, might have to take that out...
