Thread: SoD

  1. SoD

I have started to prefer SoD for hard content because, outside of pure DPS races, I find the capacity to save the tank or minstrel more useful than the burst of Oathbreakers.

On the other hand, I have become increasingly frustrated that I can't target people in my raid who are not in my fellowship. Please... it is already on a long cooldown and the whole point of the skill is for hard content (generally, raids). Please, please.. can this be fixed.

I agree that it's really annoying not to be able to use Shield of the Dunedain on non-fellowship members. Ideally, we should be able to use it on anyone - and that includes escort and skirmish NPCs. I fail to see why this is not the case.

I don't either, though i know the black bubble of the WL used to be a lot more violent then it is right now.. (could be used outside group and even on trolls.....) So instead of giving the same power to captain, they fixed the wl one..

It isn't like this skill is ever going to be perceived as "overpowered." It is a limited use, long-cooldown skill. And it helps captains do what captains are *supposed* to do... pull out a "win" when everything was looking black.

Especially considering the RK bubble is on a shorter cooldown and usable not only out-of-fellowship in raid, but out of group entirely...

    Re: SoD

I also use Shield of the Dunedain instead of Oathies. Have been for like a year already.

There are tons of situations where I can save the tank, or save a champ who pulled more aggro than they can handle, or save the healer!
Effectively it seems to help prevent wipes a lot, because if the tank or healer goes down things can go south pretty fast.

In the 'Moors it's great for saving someone who is running away and getting pew pew'd as they run. Doesn't prevent a full pounced gank-fest though : P

It makes sense to me, and would be good if we could at least pop SotD on anyone in our raid.

I think we have consensus here! We need to organize! You know, if one person, just one person does it they may think he's really sick and they won't take him. And if two people, two people do it, in harmony, they may think they're both ******* and they won't take either of them. And three people do it, three, can you imagine, three people walking in
singin a bar of Alice's Restaurant and walking out. They may think it's an organization. And can you, can you imagine fifty people a day,I said fifty people a day walking in singin a bar of Alice's Restaurant and walking out. And friends they may thinks it's a movement. And that's what it is , the Alice's Restaurant Buff up Shield of the Dunedain Movement

    Re: SoD

I still think Oathies is more useful, at least for endgame content. The only situation I can think of where SoD would be useful is the Durchest fight in BG, when he starts hitting stupidly hard on the tank(s), and it's not a DPS race. Even then it only lasts 15s.

In the Moors I trait it all the time, it's a definite lifesaver.
