Anyone getting tired of BG trash?

Seriously? 1 hour trash pulls are not fun. Trash between bosses 1-2 and 2-3 are just boring as hell. Repetitive, harsh and tiresome.

No one have fun doing trash over and over again. Most of the mobs could have either less morale or smaller density.

Agreed 100%. It's fun the first few times you do it, or if something goes horribly wrong.. but that's about it. Once you get through the gauntlet, and in part 2, you should absolutely never have the respawns. They're just pointless.

Re: Anyone getting tired of BG trash?

I am not even considering respawns. The trash it self reminds me of the horrible WoW times of Molten Core where it took longer to clear the trash then anything else.

Doing this once or twice is ok. After 3 or 4 months i will be wanting to cut my wrists just on the thought of going in this instance.

Seriously, however hired the developer that did WoW Molten Core and AQ40 to do Mirkwood should be hanged upside down and beaten with a stick.

Each day we seem to be getting closer and closer to that kind of trash. I used to like Rift trash. There was alot of it but it wasn't boring as the current one is. Not to mention it was much faster to do.

Re: Anyone getting tired of BG trash?

I really enjoyed figuring out all of the pulls in BG. Then I enjoyed perfecting them. Now I enjoy...nothing about them. They are simply too long to be done so many times. The worst one has to be the run up to the Lt. because many people haven't downed him yet so they basically fight through an hour of trash and come up empty handed. If the trash dropped some useful stuff (heck, I would be happy w/ sprigs of wooly mint!) it would be better.

Also, killing a 150k mob and having it drop a 650 IEXP rune was only funny the first time.

Well, yeah... the room full of wights was kinda ridiculous to me. After that, the pulls are repetitive but at least they mix up the combinations slightly so that you have to do *slightly* different things with each one... then again, I don't do BG quite often enough to make it mine-numbing yet, and I can see where it would get to that point really quickly.

I don't find BG to a fun raid. Probably the biggest reason is the annoying/buggy trash between boss 1 and 2. I quit running BG because it wasn't fun and there is no reason to do it "just for the loot". So yeah, I'm tired of it.

Yeah I miss the days of Moria where you could just walk right into a room and kill the boss. Like the Turtle and Watcher. Now those were raids!

be nice if the mobs actually give XP (more specifically IXP as thats the 'other' grind left to you once your in BG) on death aswell, the lack of it simply adds to the worthlessness of the whole experience

DN had bosses and trash but I was fine with it because the trash was spaced out between 6 different bosses. When there are only 3 bosses, with the same volume of trash it gets tiring wading through.

That's the issue IMO -- for those of us who don't have this raid down to a science yet it turns out to be a 4 hour plus raid with 3 bosses -- that time investment seems out of balance due to the excessive amounts of trash pulls.

And with only 3 bosses, that really limits the amount of loot overall. And BG does not really seem to meet an acceptable quality of loot either.

QFT as well -- now IF Sorcerer's had a rare chance to drop symbols for 2nd age legendaries that would increase satisfaction right away I think. Even just allowing for trash to drop 150k ixp runes would be pretty good for some people. The frustrating thing is that there are so many simple ways Turbine could improve on itemization in this game it's mindboggling that they just don't do it.

I wouldn't mind killing trash if they gave IXP or a chance at good drops. I remember in "that other game" when trash had a chance of dropping really good gear, recipes, or special crafting items. Unfortunately this game doesn't like to reward time and effort.

It's because they don't want to have to make any more raids, silly.

They're all data-driven and stuff, right? "Over 10 million skirmishes completed!" Forgot to mention that each toon has to do at least like 7 of them to qualify for skirmishes and to complete the epic....so if the average person has 3 toons (likely more), that's 21 skirmishes per player just to get skirmish-eligible AND complete Vol II Book 9. Not so impressive now, but I digress...

People stop running BG because they find it unrewarding in a multitude of ways, the data shows less people doing it, so they must not be interested in raiding anymore.

    Solution?

    (wait for it.....)

Re: Anyone getting tired of BG trash?

In all seriousness, *part* of the Skirmish suggestion above is decent. What I mean is, one thing that is interesting about Skirmishes is the quasi-unique mob appearances every time you go into what is essentially identical otherwise (ie. instance layout).

I also find the BG trash mobs boring and repetitive, it's like being forced to endure an hour of (the same) commercials before being allowed to watch your real TV show. What might be more interesting was if the random-spawn nature of Skirmishes were applied to the raid trash mobs. This couldn't be infinite in variety, but at least it would add some spice to what is otherwise very bland at this point. Once you knew how to handle an Uruk/Sorceror/Warg/Guard/Wight (equivalent of an LT in a Skirmish), you would be set, but you would never quite know who to expect when.

This may not be practical or even attractive to everyone, since it would discourage set strategies for each given sub-fight of the trash sections. It would require more thinking on your feet and team coordination than the average repetitive run after, say, try #5. But it would be a bit more exciting.

hehe. one does wonder. i'll withhold judgement until next book.
if its more skirmishes without cluster then yeah very sad.

i honestly don't think cluster raids are being phased out, but it is clear raid development is suffering due to other deliverables.

Trash was designed purely to slow you down.

-Waiting for the right time to pull

    -Huge morale mobs

    -Orange mobs

-Doing the same thing over and over and over and over.

None of the fights are even that interesting. Wait for the exact moment to pull, tank, spank, remove corruptions.

Also feel the same way about bg, the amount of trash between boss's is way to much. It is almost like since there are not 6 boss's they took the extra trash that would have been in between boss's 4 5 and 6 and just crammed it into the first 3.

The horribly long trash mob fights just make this instance feel Very LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOONG

Not to mention with only 3 boss's to fight it also is quite boring.

Re: Anyone getting tired of BG trash?

i dunno, i guess as long as BG can be cleared in same or less time as rift and DN its ok.
but one has to get hardmodes otherwise the quantity of loot is pitiful for timesink.

i do think the unpredictable and brutal nature of the instance is slowing down LT progress. So more than a few groups are burning through heaps of trash for little reward.

durchest and twins can be done in about 2hours if wipes are minimal. tack on another hour for lock3 if you don't wipe... hmm how likely is that.

honestly if the encounters were more predictable and loot more exciting i don't think trash timesink would be major annoyance.
Predictable does not = boring. A group could get to a point wiping on watcher2.0 was uncommon, but that didn't mean it was easy or boring.

yes, but you could do the rift (at level 50) in around 2 hours and DN in around 2.5 hours (at 60) without pushing it too much. And that was killing 6 bosses which nicely mix up things a bit....having 30 minutes batches of trash is just boring

now, if all the trash were like the gauntlet, that will be much more fun. E.g. after you finish boss 1, you do a second "push"/beachhead just like the gauntlet until you reach boss 2. And the same with the trash between boss 2 and 3

Given that the gauntlet only takes 15min, 3x15min is not bad and the fun factor goes up

And of course, no respawns after you reach the boss (and no 3 hours limit either)
