Well, I'm gonna go with the obvious and say the Watcher in the Water?

  4. #1979
How about another obvious answer in The Eye of Sauron?

And I suppose the last of the obvious answers is the watchers at the gate of Cirith Ungol.

Still none correct, though the "it's you" one made me grin

Hint: I'm looking for a place

  10. #1985
Well, if CarsontheSage was somewhat close, could it possibly be the Argonath? Sentinel being synonymous with watcher...

If it's close as in geographically close... My guess is "Amon Hen". It has something to do with watching, no? It is the place where the Seat of Seeing is and I think Amon Hen is a former watchpost...?

Think in a broader sense of watching or watchers

    Hint: Namesake

Samwise Gamgee, who watched over his Master and rescued him from Cirith Ungol.

    Minas Tirith itself then.

"The Tower of the Guard" could be a namesake for watcher and it was once Minas Anor.

Is it the Tower of Ecthelion? There's a line in The Two Towers where Aragorn says that they will look for Boromir's coming from the White Tower.

    Correct

Minas Anor was renamed Minas Tirith becoming the namesake of Felagund's tower at the First Age.

The Iron Crown of Morgoth? Or perhaps the knife Angrist that could cut iron like green wood?

I'm impressed that was the first thing I thought on posting and, frankly, it could be the answer.

But it's not an object (should be fairly easy now).

    That is correct

    Angband, the Hells of Iron.
Melkor's fortress in the Iron Mountains, built before the First Age, where he put Sauron in command and later raised the Thangorodrim.
