    2.9.16

For the life of me I can't figure out what to do with the barrels after you talk to Bori. I run outside the room with the barrels to put them in the corridors and I instantly aggro the trolls everytime. What should I do?

How about you left Bori aggro them first... he has 20k+ health. He can take quite a beating before he dies. After he aggros them, then you place the barrels.

Heck, if you help him, you can probably kill both of them... but that's the hard way of course.

Talk to Bori once, then the trolls spawn/start moving. Wait for them to path away from the middle and place a barrel. Repeat for the other 2? pairs. Then talk to Bori and run.

Thats how I remember doing it.

    Re: 2.9.16

    That's how to do it.

What happens is that the first time you talk to Bori, an alarm sounds and the guards become active. There's three sets of side corridors, each with two trolls patrolling them. There's also a number of orcs running around.

The safest approach is to knock out the trolls before you talk to Bori the second time. While he's standing there, get a barrel and step outside to put it down. Unforunately, this means you might aggro the orcs, who will in turn aggro a troll by proximity. One solution is to set a barrel down inside Bori's cell first, so that if a Troll does come, he'll be knocked out once inside.

Once trolls are knocked out, they don't wake up.

Fight the orcs, put the trolls to sleep. Repeat for the other two junctions. Note also that as you're working, an orc will randomly spawn every so often (seemed like about every two-three minutes) at one of the side corridors, and immediately aggro onto you no matter where you are.

Once you have the orcs dead, the trolls all asleep, go grab Bori. You'll probably have to fight another set of orcs along the way, but eventually you'll get to the other end and the main chamber. There, you'll find a troll boss waiting. He's immune to the nightshade barrels, so you'll have to let Bori tank him and help however you can (DPS or heal or whatnot). With the overseer dead, the other trolls will run off and everyone will rejoice.

Where are the elves that were just standing outside bori's cell?
Ok, Clearly I don't understand. But, do you kill people or do you make sweaters?

    Captured and put in jail?

If you run the "real" version of the same instance (Dungeons of DG), you'll see where they went.

Yep took me a couple deaths to figure out the intended - easy - way this was supposed to be done too.

After you talk to Bori the first time, the barrels become active. Then you can go and place them in all the hallways before talking to him the second time. Easy peasy. If you try to do it the other way, placing the barrels while following him out of the jail, it's much much more difficult.

The real question is when and where do you place the barrels without causing aggro? No matter how many times I try this I always aggro 3-4 Orcs and they don't fall asleep with the barrel placed on the ground. Its near impossible for a minstrel to solo 3-4 Orcs without the help of the dwarf. Any further help with this would be very appreciated.

Wait for the trolls to path out of the room and drop the barrel just inside the room.

Your 65 Minstrel shouldn't have a problem with four mobs -- turn off your Warspeech, Fear one away, focus fire on one mob while walking backwards to minimize the number of hits you take. Heal when necessary, re-Fear when available -- you should be able to take down two mobs before you're in danger of needing a heal. Otherwise, you're Doing It Wrong.

    Re: 2.9.16

I found this one a pain at first because I was trying to be too sneaky about it. Talk to Bori once and then place a barrel just inside the cell (or right on the threshold). Don't worry about getting the barrel right out in the hallway. You can then go outside and aggro the trolls. Run back into the cell and the big guys will follow you right into the poison cloud to get knocked out.

You'll have to deal with sporadic Uruk spawns, but as long as you get those barrels down before the big guys get to you, they'll get knocked out by the gas. You don't have to place a barrel while the big guys are far away and try to completely avoid being seen.

    Re: 2.9.16

Did it once not knowing anything. Managed to put two sets of trolls asleep but had to fight the ones in the beginning.

I thing the best way to do it is like above says.

    1. Get barrel and place in cell.
    2. Step outside and aggro Trolls inside.
    3. Kill any orcs.
    4. Rinse repeat for the next junctions...

I don't think you need to start up NPC until you hit all the junctions do you?

Once junctions are barrelled, fire up NPC, escort out and kill any re-spawning orcs. <--sound feasible?

    Re: 2.9.16

If you wait for a bit after the trolls pass, you can run out and put a barrel in the middle, then bring the orcs back into the room with Bori. Just make sure to not fight the orcs close to where the trolls patrol before they are put to sleep. I kinda messed it up and had to fight one of the guard trolls. They are a real pain, so try to avoid that.

    Re: 2.9.16

After 12 attempts, each one something going awry like a troll not being knocked out which = instant death, or orcs interrupting me puting barrels down which = instant death lol

Finally i got it. and the rewards do not match the repair bill unles ofcourse you were a shield user (Since i've done it on Hunter and a Rune Keeper)

but yeah i got lucky the last time

I waited for the first 2 trolls to get just out of earshot and placed a barrel in the middle of the hallway, this in turn attracted 3 orcs no problems

So the first 2 trolls feel asleep soon after and by luck the 2 trolls from the last hallway agroe'd aswell and got caught by the barrel that was still active

Note the barrels only last a minute and can't place another while one is still active so you have to time it right.

So now 4 Trolls down (and yeah confirmed they don't wake up unless you attack them)

then had to wait for another wave of orcs while the barrels were on cooldown
placed the barrel in the 2nd junction and the last 2 trolls went down.

The rest was a walk in the park. Bori does all the work.

but the rewards Pfft a 83500K Rune ok thats usefull but gear woulda been better and compensation for my pain and suffering LOL

I do believe this is almost impossible for a minstrel. After many deaths trying to follow advice on here this is what I am starting to think. There is no way I can take on 3 orcs in here at lvl 65. I have tried putting the barrel in the hall and in the room. Both seem to end up in me being pounded into the ground. I dont even think the trolls are falling asleep. maybe they have built up an immunity to nighshade at the point. LOL. They seeme to ignore the barrels and just pound me into the ground.

I have no problems with the orcs. Its the timing of the barrels near the Trolls as the biggest problem. Take it slow and you will get thru it.

    Re: 2.9.16

Any time the trolls follow me into the cell they ignore the nightshade and pound me into the ground. I have tried 5 times and gotten the first pair of trolls asleep once. On that attempt, as soon as they were asleep I walked into the hallway and was greeted by 2 trolls and 3-5 orcs running down the long hallway (from the main room) already aggroed on me... I have no idea how. They were at least 50 meters away when they started running at me. Pouned into the ground again. Now I have to wait to try again because that is 5 instances in 1 hour... FML

8 tries, and I will chalk this one up to more luck needed than skill....meaning I will skip the repair bill for now.

    Thanks Turbine!

    Re: 2.9.16

I did it as a lvl 65 champ my second try. First try I got too close to trolls before trying to put down barrel and got pounded. Definitely repeat the advice about taking it slow (should see gas field first then get trolls in it). Second try got the first pair in the hallway (it takes time to put that barrel down) and then had 3 orcs on me immediately but survived (can't remember now if I burned my long-cooldown heals or just they weren't as tough as I was expecting). But managed to put two other barrels down while trolls were away (give them a bit after you can't see them as they move really slowly) and actually agroed the trolls in the third hallway to get them to run back into the nightshade (I was worried the nightshade would disperse before they got back). I didn't run into a lot of orcs, just the initial bit of them plus I think one surprise one. Then tagged dwarf second time and escorted him out, let everything agro on him and burned it down including last boss. I could see that I got lucky on the trolls, once you can't see them you have no idea where they are, and then if you go too slow they might walk right back into you. So bad timing too fast/slow could cause a lot of problems for a player.

    Re: 2.9.16

If you set a barrel down right at the doorway, then step through the cloud to aggro and run back in, you shouldnt get more than two orcs with the trolls. Both the trolls will fall asleep just outside the door. As long as you drop the first barrel inside the room with you near the door you should never have to fight trolls. Then its a matter of carefully not pulling more orcs than you can handle.

    Re: 2.9.16

If you are fighting trolls you are not using the barrels correctly.

It is a bit tricky to get the timing, I won't lie.

You pretty much will have to fight the (weaker) 3 Orcs at the start, and maybe a few later, but it is possible to skate by everything else.

I agree. This instance (along with Death from Below) are almost making me want to quit Lotro again.

There is only so many times you can die by yourself before the game stops being fun at all. And while Death from Below is ignorable, this instance is not.

Took me a few minutes to figure out which quest you guys were talking about. Did it on Burg and hunter so far, its a piece of cake. 1st try (as long as you READ the quest)...

I don't even remember pulling aggro on the uruks till AFTER the trolls were sleeping.
