  1. Song Directory Sites (or Search feature equals information overload)

I know about The Fat Lute and the stickied thread here, but I've seen some other sites mentioned and was wondering if there is a list of all/most/many/some/a few sites.

    Also, I would be interested...

    Re: Names

The first name of my main (not the forum name) is just a good Hobbit name.

Some Hobbit ancestral surnames had to do with some deed and/or origin. The surname I chose has a little of both. Yet, the...

Re: How do you create music for use in game?

I see many, many examples of people who care about Music in Tolkien's world, with one exception of someone who doesn't seem to care what anyone plays.

I see people saying this or that sounds good...

Re: How do you create music for use in game?

I'm going to have to draw a vague line, though. As someone said, the nth version of Super Mario Bros. theme... I mean... really? I feel that crosses well outside the uncertain boundary of actually...

    Re: ABC Player for LotRO

Discovered that LotRO doesn't like anything to interrupt a tuplet -- no dynamics... not even whitespace (but ties are allowed into, within and out of tuplets in both single notes and chords and mixed...
  6. Re: Latest volume bug kind of killing the joy of music

I like playing Sunrise, Sunset by the stables in West Bree along with others playing The Eye of the Tiger, out-of-tune Vader's March and Yankee-Doodle, each on a Lute. It sounds wonderful.

    No, I...

Re: How do you create music for use in game?

Give Liszt's (The Franz) solo version a shot as the starting point in the reduction of Danse Macabre. (He even has the fugue portion done really well. Watched a video of someone playing it. Looks...

Re: How do you create music for use in game?

I'll gladly share stuff that I've arranged of other people's work (and I've explained that I'll do it without sheet music or playing MIDI's -- by ear of recordings that I've purchased and a piano...

Re: Help: Cannot get abc files to play

LotRO will accept both .abc and .txt as the filename extension. You also do not need to specify the extension in the /play command as long as it is one of those two extensions.
  10. Good answer? Not really

Sounds like you're saying people should be aware of this issue (which shows up especially during the shipwreck event as people swim along the shore where this error is to find barrels and ale) no...

    Re: Tolkien pronouncing Anduin

Please, point out in Appendix E where it says that this is only for Sindarin words? It gives examples of Numenorian, Dwarvish, Quenya, Westron and Orkish for various consonant pronunciations and...

Re: Playing over 3g , yes it can be done.

Yet, does it work well over Bluetooth?

I'm able to turn on BlueTooth on my phone, be somewhere near the laptop (which plays LotRO most excellently) and have 3G networking through the phone even if...

    Music from beyond the borders

Since I'm an impatient, mortal Man, I'll ask here, too.

Can someone describe to me what kind of musical styles one might find in Haradwaith, Forodwaith, Kand, Rhûn and Umbar in comparison to...

    Re: Tolkien pronouncing Anduin

Think that's bad? Gandalf. According to the LotR appendices, one should say it like gan-dalv (alv as in valve). Yet, I only hear people saying gan-dolf (olf as in golf).

    I blame Rankin-Bass.

Re: Is there anything special about men?

Men, the last children, were given the gift of mortality (even though some lived much, much longer than others). That affects their perspective on many things as well as not allowing them to advance...

    No. :(
  18. Music from beyond the borders - Request for thoughts and suggestions

Hey there. First, let me apologize if this belongs in the Tolkien lore forum. Given the possibility that there is no lore-defined answer, I would prefer an RP perspective if that is the case and...
  19. Music beyond the borders - Thoughts and suggestions...

EDIT: I just realized that this might have been better in the RP or Lore forums. :( (I stick to this forum so much that I completely forgot.)

Re: How do you create music for use in game?

The person trying to remake the original music in LotRO will be trying until their undying days. As I mentioned, I like the challenge of working within the restrictions and the coding aspect.

    As I...

Re: How do you create music for use in game?

Haven't tried bagpipes yet, but I have also noticed the faster tempo with everything I've done so far. I hope they don't change/fix it because I'd have to go change it on everything I've done so far....
  22. New Content is great and the focus is required, but what about existing stuff?

I was here in Open Beta. It seems certain issue still exist.

There's a tiny portion of the Brandywine river next to Buckland that will still kill (totally demoralize) a swimmer (not a diver)...

Re: How do you create music for use in game?

I figure Dwarven music would be Germanic or Scandanavian folk. After all, the origins of Dwarven lore comes from those areas.

Still given how it seems a majority of people these days portray...
  24. Re: How to render this without adding additional instruments

I've found different uses for the LotRO stringed instruments in different situations. In one case, I found using the harp for a low rythmic loop better than the lute, which ended up trading places...

Re: How do you create music for use in game?

I've yet to use someone else's ABC. Though when the ABC system first came out, I couldn't go anywhere without people playing one of two (or both) of the ABCs I arranged

    (Those ABCs no longer work...
