Re: Windows 7 and LOTRO Compatibility

Glad you found the problem. :) Windows 7 works just fine with DirectX 10 and 11, but not all video cards/GPUs work with it. That's probably why.

    Re: For Turbine re: Hitching

And again, the hitching issue isn't within the client. It's on your PC. Be it improper configuration, malware, memory-resident software bloat, or some sort of hardware configuration/compatibility...

Re: Windows 7 and LOTRO Compatibility

Your browser didn't finish downloading it or did not download it correctly. That is a local issue with your browser, ISP, and/or PC.

And SSDs still "hitch", sometimes worse than HDDs. The...

    Re: LOTROCLIENT Trojan?

The "problem" would be with your Kaspersky detecting it as a false positive. There's little Turbine can do since Kaspersky is an anti-virus app written by someone else. I bet it's probably picking up...

Re: Windows 7 and LOTRO Compatibility

I have. It's called install and update Windows then install LOTRO. Worked every time for me. No compatibility issue there.

Crashing isn't a compatibility issue since LOTRO is known to run...

Re: Installing .Net 1.1 via "Slipstream"

Well, you painted yourself into a corner. No clue why it doesn't work for you but works for thousands of other players. IOW, there's nothing wrong with the LOTRO installer, which is what you're...

Re: Installing .Net 1.1 via "Slipstream"

Well, that is really unusual, so not sure what you should do from this point out. We can safely know that thousands of players have no problems with retail and OEM installs of Windows 7 (otherwise...

Re: Installing .Net 1.1 via "Slipstream"

Oh. That might change things. So this isn't a Retail or OEM installer DVD of Windows 7? This is an MSDN copy? Hmmmm. Those are certainly quite different, so not sure how that's going to affect you.

Re: Installing .Net 1.1 via "Slipstream"

No clue. I haven't ever used the 4 stand-alone download... I avoid it like the plague. A regular Windows 7 system with updates works just fine. The only thing I can recommend doing it to wipe that 4...

Re: Installing .Net 1.1 via "Slipstream"

Not entirely accurate. This is why you shouldn't trust a wiki for understanding everything, especially something as confusing as .NET. It is easy to confuse the version numbers of .NET since 4.0 is...

Re: Installing .Net 1.1 via "Slipstream"

Don't install .NET 4.0 standalone. That's probably your issue. .NET 4.0 is installed automatically with Windows 7 and updated through Windows Update. Nothing else is required. You're...

Re: Installing .Net 1.1 via "Slipstream"

Funny how thousands of other Windows 7 users, both 32 and 64-bit, do just fine with .NET 4.0 and a no-hassle install of LOTRO. There is probably something hosed on your install of Windows or .NET. No...

Read the rest of the thread and you'll see that you DON'T want to do this anymore.

Incorrect. The Turbine updater might mention .NET 1.1, but if it sees .NET 4.0 already installed, it won't...
