    On the one hand. to hear his voice was/is significant.

    Otherwise, I find myself feeling ambivalent (and, yes, I am still drunk, in exactly the same-condition as my most-recent post ... regarding a toast to the author's birthday)

    I only want to say that I do not think he would want to be remembered, much less revered, in remembrance, in (only) this fashion: if he would be revered at all, it would be as a champion of literature who tried to remind hateful and forgetful men that neither hatefulness nor forgetfulness is profitable (among many other things).

    I concede that I am assuming lots, and not really justifying it.

    Pooooo, I'm done: I can barely see ...

    My apologies to the Professor and his family: never have I desired to interpose myself as a complete jerk ...
