"Nostalgia Critic: Top 11 Dumbest Lord of the Rings Moments"

There's an internet movies critic that I like very much, the Nostalgia Critic. His last video surprised me when I saw it: "Nostalgia Critic: Top 11 Dumbest Lord of the Rings Moments". It talks about the movies, rather than the books, but still very interesting, and I thing you guys would like to see it:

So, what are your thoughts about?
"Gondor! Gondor, between the Mountains and the Sea!
West Wind blew there; light upon the Silver Tree"

That was pretty funny! I think the close-ups bit was a little over dramatic because I think all the close-ups that were used in the films seemed to work just fine without it feeling over done. I don't know why he had a problem with Gimli's comedic moments, because there are many serious/epic films that have at least one character like that. I think a dwarf being the comedic relief was a good fit.

I guess the point he made about Legolas being "perfect" was one of the points that I agreed with most. I thought the films made elves seem a little too powerful, especially when Legolas took down that gigantic oliphant without even a drop of sweat, haha... Or maybe the films made orcs/uruk-hai seem a little too weak. I don't know...

Gollum: "Oh Christ! Just propose already!!"

    lmao

    That was indeed pretty funny.

Gotta say that I agree whole-heartedly on the what the fudge happened to Saruman bit. Probably the biggest disappointment in the trilogy for me.

At some point you have to suspend your belief and allow for some things that you're not going to understand on a logical basis, so I'm okay with the Eagles not simply flying the ring to Mt. Doom and dropping it in. There's some reason for it, and we don't necessarily have to know it.

I did recently make a thread that said why the eagles didn't fly them to Mt. Doom.

I never thought about the Gandalf thing. I always thought it was a very long whip.

Several were very true. I did not like #3. #1 cannot be answered in terms of the movie, The book explains it perfectly.
Lore-Monkey(not a Lore Guardian) and proud of it.

Legolas firing that ring into Mt. Doom to end the story about had me falling out of my chair! ROFL!!!

I never thought about them just standing there while Gandalf is trying to hold on to the bridge lol! And yup! Hold Frodo back as he is the only one that wants to give Gandalf a hand lol!
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming "WOW, what a ride!"

To be fair, helping Gandalf would have meant running out onto that narrow half-span of newly-broken bridge over an abyss (which had been scary enough when the bridge was intact), dodging Orc-arrows at the same time, so whatever else they wouldn't have wanted Frodo doing that

    That is a good point.

Oh man I couldn't agree more with all the points made in this video. But then I'm known in my circle of friends (and even family) as being very critical of the LotR movies - to the point where it's regularly played for entertainment. I'm trying to learn not to be so easily baited so I'll leave my comment at that

As for the eagles, my personal theory is that Manwë is just a big troll who likes to let the elves/dwarves/men/hobbits do all the dirty work and then swoop in at the last minute all like "no lol j/k, I got this."

    "Oh Christ! Just propose already!"

I'm still in tears laughing. I thought #3 was just me, and I will agree completely that, by the end, it was wrapped up nicely, but it really felt like they crossed a line from friendship into romance quite a few times in the movies to the point that I actually went back and began re-reading the books (first read them when I was 14) to see if that's how Tolkien intended hobbits to come across, if it was part of their "simple, life-loving" nature.

Oh, and I scared my cat laughing at the Itchy and Scratchy comment.

Thanks for posting this. I now have a new favorite youtuber.
