Hmm, you must be using that word in a different way than I was thinking.

    Negative. Which word, btw?

Actually, I believe it is Orome who is the Vala the elves first meet. Be that as it may, you're way off in drawing a relationship between the proper name Titan and the Vala.

Again, negative. The correct answer will consist of two words; a subject noun preceded by a modifier with no conjunction. Am I helping, or making it harder?

I always thought Titan was a moon of Jupiter. I'm not sure why. I love it when I learn something, even more when it corrects my misapprehension.

Once again, negative. If I may reiterate, the correct answer will be a two word answer (your guess is okay so far, but not much farther) consisting of a subject noun preceded by a modifier. The definite article "the" is definitely not a modifier, usually.
If one knows the ABCs of astronomy he might map a route to the correct answer.

That, was hint. and a damned good, generous hint, if I may make so bold. Add to the last sentence "...one might even be able to find a back door to his goal."

Further; My response to Boraxxe's third guess was hint, if you will (if you will only perceive it).

And I was just thinking about the elves, people of the sun and the moon..you know.
Then: "Well who wrote the darn moon runes on Thror's map?"

But it hit me at last. Hard. Titan characters. Moon runes.

LMAO! Hit ya hard indeed. was starting to think I'd have to draw ya a map.

Thx Boraxxe. When ya came up with Titan a moon of Saturn I thought "he's got this, next guess he'll nail it down."

I actually thought about the map before your hints, but only who wrote them, not the runes themselves. Which just made me feel more like batting at the wrong pitcher. Great riddle.

I don't really have any good guesses on this one, but I'll throw something out just to get some feedback:
Twinge can mean a sharp pain, so the first sharp pain could be the First Kinslaying?
"I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend," Faramir in TTT by JRRT.

A twinge can also mean a short, sharp pain.
So how about Frodo being pierced by the Morgul blade on Weathertop?
Bit of a wild stab (geddit?)

Twinge can be used this way; "I had my first twinge of doubt when I saw the finger-nail floating in my coffee."

Gandalf had his first twinge of doubt about Saruman's intentions when Saruman advised the White Council against attacking Dol Guldur.
