Types of Items

The Lord of the Rings Online features several types of in-game objects. Many of the objects you find in-game will have different colored background icons to help provide visual clues of what type of item you’ve found. If you’re unsure, be sure to inspect your item to view more details about it by moving your mouse cursor over top of it. You can also visit the Lorebook Advanced Search Feature to search for the item, and read more about how it can be used.

The primary types of objects you will encounter are:

• Equipment – these can be worn by your character, and often can improve your character’s abilities, attacks, or provide other helpful effects.
• Consumables – these items can be used by your character one time to grant temporary benefits
• Trophies – can be offered to vendors in exchange for in-game money
• Housing Items – can be used to decorate the interior and exterior of a player’s house
• Crafting Ingredients – can be combined together to create equipment, consumables, or other objects through the crafting system.
• Money – The in-game currency used to interact with vendors, the auction house, and other in-game systems.
• Barter items – can be traded in to some NPCs in exchange for special items or rewards
