Exploring Middle-earth: Annunlos

Annunlos is the name given to the far western part of the Lone-lands. Like most of the Lone-lands, Annunlos is a fairly barren territory, marked occasionally by small, broken ruins from the dead realm of Rhudaur. The most notable landmarks in this bleak land are the ruins of Minas Eriol and the Forsaken Inn, which caters still to travelers journeying along the Great East Road.

Annunlos

It is said that Annunlos is thick with brigands and wild wolves, but there are rumours of more terrible dangers as well. Reports from a handful of travellers tell that goblins have moved into the ruins of Minas Eriol and the hills surrounding the Forsaken Inn. What brought these creatures out of their mountain halls, none can say.

While the territory occupied by Annunlos appears on the original maps of Middle-earth, the name of the area was created by Turbine using J.R.R. Tolkien’s Sindarin language. Players of The Lord of the Rings Online™: Shadows of Angmar™ will find themselves adventuring in Annunlos in defense of the Forsaken Inn.
